    Best fighter ability-wise.

We can talk about who the best fighter ever is based on actual accomplishments, but who would you say is the best fighter ever in terms of natural ability?

I dont know if he was the best, but I and many others always felt like James Toney was a natural at boxing. Movement, speed (especially in his youth, he had a great hand speed), angles, defense, footwork, he had it all. He did accomplish a lot but it makes people wonder how long could have he gone if he would have taken training and other things bit more seriously

Wilfred Benitez was considered by many experts to be one of the most naturally talented boxers to ever get in the ring. He wasn't one to train properly. He hated it. He was the youngest world champion in history. I think he suffered from a brain disorder early in his career. Right now he has severe mental trauma.

I can only comment on fighters I've seen live. I won't go back and rate dudes I've only seen on ESPN Classic.

With that in mind, it's Floyd Mayweather Jr prior to his hands becoming brittle and forcing him to be a 100% defensive fighter.

              Ray Robinson.

Jones was more explosive with pyrotechnics, but not as dynamic.

I can only go by the finished product and don't know how much of a fighter's ability he was born with and how much is due to hard work, dedication and good teaching. Loma seems like a natural born boxer now. But most boxing fans know how hard he worked from a young age and how hard his father worked so he would become a great fighter. Mayweather obviously had great potential but he was born into a boxing family and trained to be great fighter since he was 6 years old. Would he have ended up as good a champion if he was not born into a family of champion boxers and didn't start boxing until he was 20 years old?
