Comments Thread For: Anthony Yarde: Mike Tyson Built His Career, I've Got To Do That

Anthony Yarde extended his unbeaten run with a comprehensive showing in his home city. The Ilford light-heavyweight, who is ranked number two with the WBO, stopped Dariusz Sek in the seventh round on Saturday night. Yarde was incredibly dominant against the Polish southpaw from the outset at the O2 Arena, exclusively live on BT Sport and BoxNation.

What is up with all the participation trophy belts? This is why boxing has become a laughingstock. In order to take in even more money each corrupt organization creates participation belts that it doles out to any ***** boxer it chooses.

300 million in one fight you mean. It is haters like you that made it all possible for him. Your desire to see him fall made him a multimillionaire to the extent he had enough clout to pick his fights. Now you want to complain?

“Everything is timing,” the man who recently turned down a shot at Sergey Kovalev’s WBO belt to build his experience said in the aftermath of dropping and stopping Sek for the first time in the challenger’s campaign in the paid ranks.
“I study boxing and it’s all steady progress. Mike Tyson built his career and I’ve got to do that.
“My promoter and manager will work on that for me, but I’ll fight anybody. He had a decent record and people are turning me down.”
Sums Yarde up quite well that.

I’m sure he would fight anyone actually, most fighters have that mentality.

But the pro game is a business and if your lucky enough to be a fighter who is being developed and someone is investing money into, the brain trust are not going to make unwise decisions with their investment.

The brain trust. I watched the fight and Yarde should be disappointed with his effort. They but him in there with a rangy, mobile southpaw who survived and even came forward a few times before it was waived off. If Yarde was supposed to solve this guy, he didnt. Frank Warren congratulating himself on walking away from the Kovalev offer was an entirely fitting wrap up. Youre kinda supposed to keep your timidness to make interesting/ challenging match ups on the DL Frank.

But isn’t that what these fights are for?

Yarde lacks experience, 28 fights in total, he has potential to be a draw.

not all draws are champions and not all champions are draws.

If I was guiding him I would do the same thing.

                He’s still learning, bottom line.

I’m not mad at him for not taking the Kovalev fight that’s a step to far but he should be fighting the top guys domestically at this point.
