  • Doing GREAT on his own, better than fans want to give him credit for. Doing GREAT on his own, best thing is to continue his Relationship with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys and focus on building up his Fanbase at home right now with the hope to one day be able to Headline and Fill Up Cowboys Stadium in a Mega Bout either vs Thurman, Crawford or maybe even Mikey Garcia Eventually.

Neither Spence Jr or Crawford need to change anything! Just Keep Winning!

He just wasn't a mega star yet but he headlined 3 straight PPVs that all drew 325-375K buys. It's easy to go independent without a Promoter when you are already #1P4P and a 300K PPV draw. But going independent when you are not even a PPV fighter yet and drawing moderate viewership on cable is very hard. A lot of these guys are anywhere close to being a PPV fighter sure the top guys are getting 1-2M paydays but that's peanuts compared to what they could get if they linked with a promoter and buit for PPV fights. Floyd wasn't the biggest star in boxing when he left Top Rank but was definitely on the short list of maybe 5 fighters who consistently drew those PPV numbers. And Oscar was by far the biggest PPV draw in the sport when he left. Big difference comparing stars who were already built and huge draws compared to guys that have never fought on PPV and are not known.
You are correct, it isn't a fair comparison. But those are the only two who have went without a promoter.

Also, Spence may not be signed to any promoter, but he is signed to manager Al Haymon.

Floyd and ODLH both became ppv fighters by fighting top names, top opponents. Almost all of the top fighters around Spence's division are signed with Haymon also. Arum and ODLH both have sued Haymon and continue to not work with him, except in very rare cases. The path to being a ppv fighter is fighting the best. Other than Crawford, no top ww or super ww are with TR. Fighting Postol, Indongo, and Horn haven't made Bud a ppv fighter.

It isn't so much having a promoter as being able to get the big fights.

Going it without a promoter means one has to be elite, to be able to succeed. Not many have that ability. Spence does. That does not mean, he is a sure-fire ppv fighter in time, but it means he has the chance. Crawford is with TR and is three years older than Spence. And his one ppv, got less than 50k buys.

Also, Floyd didn't consistently draw ppv numbers before leaving TR. He had one ppv fight in all his years with TR, that was with Gatti. What turned Floyd into a money-making machine was his win over ODLH. And that was a main reason Floyd left, because Arum refused to let him fight Oscar.

LMAO I know that because I have a buddy who was at that fight because they GAVE away tickets for free. 19 year old prospect Garcia sold more tickets and filled a larger crowd then Spence did. Garcia is light years ahead of where Spence was as a prospect hell he's drawing more then Spence did as a title contender. If he's pulling crowds like this and has that many people following him at 19 what do you think he will be drawing once he grabs a world title? Spence is 28 and just started drawing decent crowds.
Wasnt that like one of the most successful viewed boxing match on NBC in Years???? Then he went to the U.K. and broke KB down. He's humbled enough to stay grounded but if he acted liked AB or PBF ya still would gripe.... I wonder if this is about Errol to now. We see no-one wants to fight him but some posters still troll. Lol people need help.

Canelo is only known by Mexicans in the US. He is far from a cross over star here. The only reason he gets any recognition is for being that Irish-Mexican who fought on the Floyd undercards.

And lastly, Ryan Garcia is a glorified Instagram model according to your post. Lot's of followers but not getting paid for them. And how the hell will he be PPV when he doesn't look to be a fighter that can separate himself from moderate opposition?
Dam bruh, you didn't even break a sweat huh. # ToooEassyyy.

What Spence and Crawford and any other fighter who wants to become a ppv fighter, is to fight the best, and also the biggest names (the two are not always the same. For instance, Floyd's first ppv was against Gatti, who was exciting and awesome to watch, but was not one of the best.)

Right now, both Spence and Crawford are successful and doing great, no doubt about that. But to become a household name they will have to fight the best. And that most likely includes each other at some point in the next couple of years.

                Just like the Charlo sisters.
Uncle Haymon provides them with tender loving protection.

TR has already started setting them up to be known. its not like oscar/floyd left TR before even headlining a ppv fight. when they left TR, they were pretty much house hold name already.
Very good post. You are correct.

But they both became known because they got big fights. Right now, no promoter can offer any fighter above 135 big names and big fights. The best chance to get the fights that can turn them into household names, is to stay with Haymon and not sign with any promoter.

You, WE the fans more worried about that extra CRAP more than Crawford and Spence Jr are. Both making Great Money already, not everybody have that Obsession that some fans clearly have as far as being "Crossover Superstars" both seem to be more focused on being considered the VERY BEST!

Also going into a ERA where PPV might not be around very long which is why Streaming Deals are being Done so it will NEVER BE another PPV Star as Big as Mayweather ever again!
