I was gonna say maybe because Kelly is a Sunderland lad and Ritson is a Geordie but i'd imagine the crowd was people from all over the north east.

At the end of the day, people like knockouts. Also, Ritson has a pretty good background story, that he was about to pack it in and work in a factory then has seemingly come out of nowhere. People love that kind of thing. Seems a really good lad too. I can see why his city are getting behind him.

He needs some A class sparring, he can't learn what he doesn't see. Put him in with slicksters to show him a trick or two. It's like dancing, get him good partners and he will improve. Just don't get him beat up.

I’d say it was majority Newcastle crowd, no Mackem is going to chant “toon army”, would have been different if it was held in Sunderland.

That being said, Ritson has a crowd pleasing style, he had the place jumping.

He might possibly have more to his game than he's had to show. Let's be fair, he's making very easy work of pretty decent British title level fighters. His opponents might not be world level, but if he was that limited in his style, it would be getting tested at this level at least.

Plenty of fighters seem rather basic on the eye test but it's just different when you're in there with them. Plenty of very good world champions wouldn't be far off fitting that description you just give. Sor Rungvisai always looks basic in some ways, but he has a real knack for landing hurtful shots.

You might be right though, who knows. It'll be interesting to see how far he can go.
He has that Martin Murray/Ricky Burns look. Tough as a brick shlthouse but constrained by that quite stiff style.
Hope I'm wrong 'cause he seems a very likeable fella but I just worry if he ever faces a slick fighter.
But I'll be rooting for him. No doubt about that.

Exactly that. I just made a comment about Ritson vs a slickster - he could struggle like Burns does. He needs some different sparring partners now if he wants to get those feet dancing and a bit of upper body movement.
