According to Fat Dan the owners of the MGM stepped in to help. It’s possible they put up some money of their own to satisfy BBB side as they really wanted the fight there in September as their casinos clean up during fight week.
Maybe they gave Gina sweet slot machine voucher to close the deal.

MGM put some more of their own money up for Golovkin in addition to the 42.5%, so it's like he is getting the 45, but it's not out of Canelo's pocket.
