Chavez brought fans. So did Amir Khan. You think fans are only those who buy every PPV. Lots of fans (and yes most fans of any boxer are casual fans) aren't just going to buy any PPV. That's why Canelo drew only 300K vs. Liam Smith. He needs a guy who is going to generate interest, he alone has a cap (just like every boxer).

There is no doubt Canelo has more fans. Especially fans willing to fork out money to watch him fight. There is no dis*****g that Canelo is clearly the A side.

Why you guys want to engage in this all or nothing proposition is beyond me. The fact that the guys who actually engage in the business of putting deals together are offering Golovkin north of 40% should tell you something. I find it funny that people on here who probably (and in many cases I know they haven't) dealt with any significant business/financial negotiation are somehow experts is comical. A bunch of minimum wage or EBT fools talking about financial dealings, LOL!

i said this before, if ggg stays at 50-50 and fight doesnt get made then he will be at blame imo, but nothing wrong with trying to get more money, in fact i said before that the 60-40 split seem to be the way to go imo and that is back when it was 65-35, and could end really close to that...
It was clearly a negotiation tactic... If GGG doesn't sign the fight now, then I will blame him myself but people pretending like wanting to up over 35% is wrong. In negotiations, you always start high.

        • I’m a die Canelo fan but Oscar is really operating his business like a desperate feind! Business wise Canelo is in a position where he can Son the heck out of anyone who he’s an underdog to!!! But with all this drama it is unclear if he can draw the minimum 300 thousand ppv buys with your cabdriver! So... hopefully after he whoops ggg things will be clarified!!!!

You folks were wrong back then, and you are wrong now. Take the L and move on. GBP offering a bigger split is nothing out of ordinary. Their fighter needs to regain confidence, and legitimacy and its the biggest possible fight in boxing right now so the finances make sense. Clearly they have done their market research and know this fight would do better than the previous one before dishing out the offer.

On the other hands, once again wankers here who have never done a thing on negotiation keep squeaking. Have you seen the contract of the boxers? Have you see their marketing team's research? To you folks, I say, keep crying
100%. Just wrote the same thing essentially. Bunch of minimum wage, no jobs and EBT guys with no experience negotiating yapping. This is like the guy in the liquor store buying lotto tickets/scratchers giving financial advice.

Guarantee some of this fools where the ones saying Golovkin should have taken a flat fee before the first fight. Many of the same ran their mouths about Golovkin when he said he wanted more. Regardless if he takes it (he should IMO) he already has got millions more offered to him with the 7% bump.

That's fine, as long as you aren't saying he is offering him out of the goodness of his heart. The compensation came because Golovkin demanded it and it is the best money fight Canelo can make. GBP would have been more than happy to give Golovkin the same deal without a second thought for compensation as they should. They are making this fight first because it makes the most financial sense. It is also the fight Canelo needs to turn around the negative perception he has. IMO those are the two principle factors. How much Canelo wants to fight Golovkin I do not know. Not saying he doesn't I just don't know from where I sit.
