Credit to Maurice Hooker for entering the WBSS. Now all the major belts will be in play, except for one notable exception.

Bob Arum rarely involves himself with things that are good for the sport or for boxing fans. That's why Ramirez isn't in.

I think most promoters would go in that direction if they feel like they have a potential star in the making. But I also feel like Top Rank doesn't have that much confidence in Ramirez either. There's a very good chance he would lose to Prograis or Josh Taylor/Postol winner. Which could hurt his drawing power.

They'd rather milk him and try to develop him before throwing him into the wolves.

TR is fine with that. As long as Ramirez continues to sell out and win, they'll put him in with any stiff they can find. Especially since there is no public pressure either.

Prograis is a potential star in the making. So is Josh Taylor in England.

They are both in. It's only Arum who as usual refuses to play ball.

They are, but not like Ramirez. Because he's a Mexican-American, and because he can already sell out an arena in his hometown (although at cheap prices), they're going to milk that as much as they can.

But, he's also not as good as Taylor or Prograis, who would likely be the two favorites to win the whole tournament. I think TR sees that as well.

Honestly, now that Lomachenko is recovering from surgery, I wish Mikey Garcia had got in the tournament @ 140 too!

It’s sad they’re not interested especially showtime that surprising actually.

Should probably wait for the full announcement; WBSS doesn't have the juice to get a TV partner to fly in blind in the US, especially if it comes with strings (having to pay up for both tournaments with talent unknown).

If things end up being Baranchyk-Yigit, Rellikh-Troyonovski, Hooker-Martin, and Prograis-Taylor (hurts to even think that a fight that could be the final would happen in the first round), I could definitely see interest in the tournament from US TV (if the insistence is to stage 4 separate shows, and if the price is right, I could see the shows streaming on Showtime's YouTube page for the international fights and set for ShoBox for the US fights; if outcomes go certain ways, could even see a Showtime Championship Boxing telecast for the finals).

I could not be happier for Mo! Saturday was a life-changing win for him.
As for the combatants are 40, I would love to see:
                    Prograis
                    Taylor
                    Hooker
Orazco (he would be my dark horse of the tourney)
                    Ulysse Jr
                    Molina Jr
                    Baranchyk
                    Ramirez
