Comments Thread For: Crawford: I Was Arrogant When Gamboa Hurt Me; I Learned

Terence Crawford scoffed at Glenn Rushton's suggestion. Jeff Horn's trainer has stated during the buildup toward their welterweight title fight that if Yuriorkis Gamboa could hurt Crawford in their lightweight championship match nearly four years ago, the bigger, stronger Horn most certainly is capable of hurting and knocking out the unbeaten challenger Saturday night at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas (ESPN+). Gamboa buzzed Crawford with a left-right combination early in the ninth round of their June 2014 bout.

Crawford is a good fighter but he has never fought at 147. No one knows how he will carry the extra weight or react when he gets hit by a bigger unrelenting guy. This is an intriguing fight. I'm a Crawford fan but I feel like Horn isn't getting the respect he deserves. I'm sure Horn will give a good account of himself come fight night. If Crawford is that much better then it will show. He did exceptionally well against the Namibian and he can do the same to Horn. I can't wait for this one.

Crawford got caught in that 9th round during an open exchange where he was just throwing punches without protecting himself. He left his chin wide open. It happened so fast, the announcers didn’t notice it until later in the round when Crawford kept clinching and holding.

But it is ****** for Horn’s camp to pull the tape of that fight from 2014. I’m sure his coach corrected that by now. It does shows Crawford can be hurt and he is moving up to welterweight.

Interesting to note, in the PAC fight, Horn’s father admitted to almost stopping the fight because of the volume of punches PAC was landing and the damage they caused. That’s why I believe it will be stopped. Crawford is faster and stronger than PAC is now. And Horn often leaves his chin open. That 9th round versus PAC was brutal.

Article at BS states Terrence Crawford learned from getting hurt by Gamboa.

Crawford was 0.4 pounds heavier on the scale and 6 pounds heavier on fight night. What 'size difference' are you talking about?

Size difference is the 17 pound difference between Floyd and Canelo, the 30 pound difference between Wilder and Stiverne, and the 44 pound difference between Cunningham and Fury.

Crawford and Gamboa were relatively the same size...
