If it was so cut and dry why make a thread about it?
GGG is the complete and utter victim here

Yep.......Canelo made the situation, but GGG is 100% accountable for what's happened since.
-If he had sat out, he wouldn't have been stripped.
-If he had fought his mandatory instead of Vanes he wouldn't have been stripped.
-If he had accepted a reasonable split, he would be fighting Canelo for another big payday.Comment

He got an exemption for the Vanes fight, but he had to fight Derv next. The IBF gave him an exemption for the Canelo fight but had to fight his mandatory, when that fight fell through he had to fight Derv next but the IBF allowed an exemption to fight Vanes. As for the Brook fight, he had already fought the IBF mandatory in Wade a fight before.Comment

hes the bad guy for going after the p4p ranked canelo (best wins-trout, cotto, lara) instead of fighting derevencko (best wins soliman, tureano). people are suddenly in love with mandatories nowComment

[QUOTE=Slicc;18837878]What happened to his dream of being an undisputed champ? Derevyanchenko was his mandatory. Matter of fact, he was supposed to fight him in May 5th, but the IBF let him off the hook for fighting Martirosyan, thinking that GGG would fight Derevy afterwards. The thing is, GGG, for some odd reason, didn't wanna fight Derevy, so the IBF had to snatch the belt. Derevy fought whoever he needed to, for the #1 spot. Whether or not you think he deserved to fight GGG is irrelevant. GGG was supposed to fight him, period.
You're right. As much as I'm a fan of Golovkin he should have fought his mandatory. Understand why he's going for the gold with Canelo but disappointed a bit that he sold out. No getting around it.Comment
