Rules are rules. Even though I am a fan Golovkin can't hold the title hostage. The IBF did the right thing. Having said that Its getting increasingly rare that there are unified champions because of the multiple sanctioning bodies.

Now he’ll never unify he should just fight Charlo and show he’s either the baddest mofo in the division or he’s not.
the number of fights doesn't have too much to do with it - look at Lomachenko. But >>> this is the IBF - imo they have the worst ratings of the orgs leading to tying up their champs with useless and non profitable mandatories.
Although actually this time D-chenko is a reasonable, if unproven, fighter but he brings zero to the table.

True that. g can probably retire off his payday for Vanes.

g literally refused to fight Derevyanchenko to instead fight Vanes. g didn't vacate for a big money fight with Canelo, he vacated so he could drag some jmw out of retirement.

Nothing to explain. Dervanchenko was ready to fight ggg but he chose to fight Vanes instead. Not to mention Vanes was coming off a 2 years lay off and coming off a lose and had never fought at 160 before plus he lost 3 out of his last four fights.

Loma had almost 400 amateur fights with one loss and was fighting and beating former world champions from the start. Sergiy Derevyanchenko Hasn’t beat anybody. You can’t compare this guy to Loma. I don’t feel his 12 wins earn him a title shot.

My question is if GGG tomorrow wanted the IBF title back can he fight Derevyanchenko lets say in August? Or does he have to wait until the IBF sets a vacant title match?

This sucks for GGG. Hopefully he can somehow salvage a Canelo fight. If not try to get Saunders. I think now that GGG got a taste of that big payday he wants to be compensated as such.

GGG hopefully fights twice more before years end.
