droppin the exclusivity rights was part of the settlement. U can’t say Haymon didn’t pay top rank because we don’t know. They have a non disclosure and can’t discuss the details.

That comment about if it wasn’t for Haymon top rank would be begging for hbo dates is Hilarious. Haymon was the one blocking the deal because of his exclusivity clause.

Why do u think he droppped it? To help Top Rank? Lol sure. More like he was going to lose more in court so he compromised.

Remember espn had already stopped showing PBC shows before that agreement.

For Arum to call sampson and say the contract is weak, it must be weak. Arum is very astute and he would interfere with a contract if he deems it a weak contract.

                  HISTORY LESSON:

                  September 22, 2006:

Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions thought it had a deal to sign lightweight titlist Juan Diaz last week, but Diaz's manager, Willie Savannah, reneged before it was signed and instead took a better offer from Don King.

Golden Boy didn't make the same mistake twice, signing Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao out from under rival Top Rank by getting his signature on a seven-fight contract during a secret dinner Monday night in Los Angeles, multiple sources with knowledge of the deal told ESPN.com.

"It's done. It is signed," said one source, who said he has seen the executed contract.

Golden Boy, fast becoming boxing's most significant promoter, will also pay Pacquiao an undisclosed signing bonus, the source said...

"If he signed with Golden Boy, that's part of the business," he said. "I don't give a [expletive]. I really don't care. We have enough on our plate to occupy us. It would have been nice to promote Manny but if we can't, we can't. Life goes on."

According to sources, Pacquiao wants to keep the signing quiet because he doesn't want to upset Top Rank, which he believes will stack the deck against him in his rubber match with Morales.

Top Rank president Todd duBoef said that is ridiculous.

                  March 2, 2007:

If it’s a question of money, Golden Boy Promotions says its no problem and has offered to up Manny Pacquiao’s signing bonus to $1 million to match what the Filipino ring idol was given when he inked a four year deal with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum two months after signing a seven-fight deal with Golden Boy in mid-September last year.

Trainer Freddie Roach who honed Pacquiao into a devastating fighting machine regarded as the most exciting boxer in the world today and No.1 on the pound-for-pound list said Golden Boy told him “they will match Arum’s offer and will give him (Pacquiao) another half-a-million dollars.” Golden Boy had given Pacquiao $500,000 when he signed a seven fight agreement in mid-September.

Roach was also upset over how his deposition in the legal battle between Golden Boy and Arum which was taken by Arum's lawyer and apparently leaked to a Las Vegas newspaper was interpreted by some writers who claimed that De La Hoya “lured” Pacquiao to sign a contract with cold cash in a briefcase.

Roach said “they gave him cash because Manny told me that’s what he wanted. It wasn’t illegal. It was in the contract. Pacquiao asked for cash and that’s what I told them. Its not my fault.”

                  September 21, 2010:

Golden Boy Promotions sued bitter rival promotional powerhouse Top Rank, its chairman, Bob Arum, and chief financial officer David Lopez in federal court Tuesday, accusing them of racketeering and millions of dollars in fraud.

                  Arum denied the allegations.

The 23-page suit filed in U.S. District Court in Nevada, and obtained by ESPN.com, accuses Arum of a pattern of purposefully trying to hide millions of dollars Top Rank allegedly owes Golden Boy related to money generated from three Manny Pacquiao fights.

Golden Boy, which owns a percentage of Pacquiao's promotional contract, is seeking damages "in the range of $3 million to $5 million, plus attorneys fees," Judd Burstein, the attorney representing Golden Boy, told ESPN.com, adding that because the suit was filed under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act -- the RICO statute -- damages would be tripled if Golden Boy wins a judgment...

Golden Boy contends that it is owed millions of dollars from Pacquiao's 2008 lightweight title bout against David Diaz, his 2009 welterweight title bout against Miguel Cotto and his March welterweight title defense against Joshua Clottey.

Daniel Petrocelli, Arum's attorney, told ESPN.com that the allegations are "completely fictitious. All of this is spiteful because they haven't gotten over losing the litigation [over Pacquiao's promotional contract] a few years ago. This is just spiteful and it will be redressed swiftly and decisively against all responsible parties.

"They are only doing this to get to cheap publicity. They will all bear responsibility."

Golden Boy alleges numerous instances in which Top Rank failed to report revenue from the fights and falsely inflated expenses. It also contends it is concerned that Top Rank will use similar accounting for Pacquiao's fight with Antonio Margarito on Nov. 13, which Arum recently began promoting.

exactly so why say you want Arum to lose a bunch of money if the contract isn't valid? Benavidez obviously doesn't want to be with Sampson anymore and wants to roll with Top Rank
