Comments Thread For: Katie Taylor's Father, Two Others Shot at Boxing Gym in Ireland

A 30 year old male has been shot and later died in hospital at an incident at the boxing gym owned or operated by Katie Taylor's father.

A lone gunman apparently entered the gym and opened fire.

Reports suggesting Taylor's father has also been shot and is in hospital.

Boxing on any level just can't seem to shake gangland culture

I wonder if this is a protestant/catholic thing, or just gang culture?

Guess we'll find out soon, any one involved in business and who owns a gym might be a target for someone he's ripped off etc

Think Hearn said in an interview she cant have a homecoming fight because of safety issues. I thought it cant be that bad, obviously is. No idea what its all about though

Seems strange to me, McGuigan and Frampton are known protestants and pro-union.... I'd expect them to be targeted but they are popular either side of the border in Ireland?

I don't see why a Catholic/Rep, Irish person would be unsafe to fight in Ireland?

Holy s**t, I had no idea that MTK were linked to a crime boss and couldn't stage events in Ireland due to a previous shooting!

They have a few big names to, Saunders, Fury, Frampton etc.... this somehow escaped me, I've certainly not seen anything on here.

This also means that Kugan Cassius and James Helder (IFL TV) have links to a crime boss, they work for MTK or sponsored by them at least.
