That's exactly the point & should determine how negotiations are handled. Oscar loves to play games in the media with ratings & such, but how are sales determined? By the fan's desire to see said fight, not by who is a star or not, it's the quality of the match-up combined with the stars.that still doesn't give ggg more leverage than what cotto had back then. There was a higher demand for canelo vs ggg than cotto vs canelo but that doesn't make ggg a bigger star. Chavez jr did better numbers vs canelo than cotto did but didn't have the ppv leverage cotto had. Just like Joshua will do better numbers vs Wilder than he did vs klitchko but wilder isn't a bigger star than klitchko. It's about demand for the fight. Trust me, I'd love it if ggg got a 50/50 split with Canelo. But it won't happen. 55-45 is fair imo.
Disregarding that Canelo made more against GGG? This is how he spins. Who's really scared of whom?Originally posted by Oscar"Why give [50-50 to] a fighter who fights only for a million dollars, and fights a Vanes Martirosyan and does ratings that are not really to par to what Canelo does."
I totally agree that 45% is fair & think that Golovkin should take that if offered, but that isn't what GBP says to the media when playing their games.Comment

and what do you think Canelo would've done if the roles were reversed and he had to find an opponent with less than a month to go? You think he'd have fought jacobs or charlo or saunders or Sergiy?? Or would you see him vs Gabe rosado?Comment

I understand your logic but the way it generally works is, how many fans do you bring to this fight in ppvs and tickets sales vs what I generate... and by that logic, Canelo brings in more fans. Canelo vs chavez Jr in a mismatch drew 1 mil buys. A better and more competitive fight with ggg vs jacobs drew 200 plus thousand. Either way, hope they can figure it out and make the fight happen. Ggg isnt getting any younger and his window to beat these young guys is closing. That's exactly the point & should determine how negotiations are handled.
