Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has denied he is disrespecting Brisbane world champion Jeff Horn ahead of his title defence in Las Vegas. Horn is in the final stages of preparation for his welterweight title defence against Terence Crawford at the MGM Grand on June 9.

And then there's the odd fact that Arum arranged for Pacquiao, his own guy and one of the sport's biggest ever superstars, to travel to Horn's own back yard in Brisbane to fight. Maybe that was just the way to make the most money but it's still bizarre for the champion to go to his opponent's back yard when there was such a gulf in the amount of clout each fighter held. There have been other articles that make me think that Arum has a strange soft spot for Horn, both in the leadup to this and in the aftermath of the Pacquiao fight but I can't find them right now. In particular I'm pretty sure that Arum readily agreed with the decision in the Pacquiao fight despite there being such a big call of controversy, which seems odd because surely if anyone should be taking the side of a fighter on the wrong end of a controversial call and doing damage control it should be the promoter.

I think Arum sees Horn as marketable in Australia and is just trying to court him into his stable (honestly the way it's been going it almost seems like he's already there) and is playing nice with him to make it so.
Yea I agree with everything your saying about Manny vs Horn. That definitely smelled funny before the decision was announced. I hate to be conspiracy theory-ish about this stuff, but the Horn fight & that first Bradley fight felt like Manny was supposed to lose by the "powers that be". Whoever you think the powers that be are lol.

That said I still feel like Bob is trying to make this seem more competitive then it is for the interest of fans more than he's speaking his real opinion. I mean lets be straight, he SHOULD be talking about how the big underdog can win. Thats standard promoter stuff these days. They are gonna be in Vegas. The ref, god willing, won't be an Aussie MMA ref. So while the words might have you feeling that lightning may strike twice here I say the Horn train is coming to an end of the track based on the look of the actions being made that don't reflect the Manny fight at all.

You are normally such a solid poster.

But you keep saying that Pac got robbed by Australians.

Not a single one of the officials was an Australian. The 3 judges at ringside, the ref, even the 5 judges brought in to review the match - not a single Australian.

I think Horn won the first fight, in a close, rough match.

With that being said, I also think Horn needs to be careful when he talks about promoters manipulating outcomes. He might not believe that he has benefited from this kind of thing himself, but plenty of people think he did.

It sounds weak to say that the cards are being stacked against him without pausing to consider if they have ever been stacked for him. I mean, he is a maths teacher. What does he really think the probability is?

I didn't think I brought up a "robbery" at all or a "robbery" by Aussies specifically. The whole thing just felt like a setup or something. It felt like the first Tim Bradley fight like I mentioned.

And I did mention an Aussie ref, which apparently isn't the case so I apologize for that wrong info & appreciate you correcting me there.

That said he didn't fool me with his experience with reffing MMA fights based on the sh^t he let Horn get away with that night. I'm not sure I've seen so much roughness & fouls committed against a legend like Manny with the ref saying so little & doing so little to stop it in my entire time watching boxing.

Beyond that I got no clue what the whole Aussie angle has to do with anything I brought up or why you are suggesting me mislabeling the ref as Aussie impacts anything I'm saying with what went down & how most felt the fight went.

At the end of the day my feelings with that fight are that it was a close enough fight that it could have gone either way so there isn't THAT much to feel f#cked over by, but whatever with that everything about this fight said it was setup to give Horn the best chance to upset Manny since Manny quit playing ball with Arum & didn't wanna fight Crawford. And Horn did just that by the narrowest of margins.

              Horn beat Pacman!

why are people crying robbery over the pacquaio fight..he clearly wont all but one of the opening 6-7 rounds. ehther way crawford is going to school him but people need to give the man credit for his previous win. base a fight on its merits not based on who is the "star" or "A-side"..

Forget about standing counts .... the rules of boxing state that if a fighter falls into the ropes after taking a punch, that's a KD and a count should be given. Povetkin was stunned and fell into the ropes and the ref followed the rules, even though it benifited the away fighter, not the homer.
Price was an undercard sacrifice, if you failed to see that then I have no longer anything to say on the matter
