    March 2, 2007:

No new names surfaced in the latest steroids investigation to make headlines, but former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield was implicated further.

Sports Illustrated’s Web site reported a patient of a Mobile, Ala., lab by the name of “Evan Fields” raised some su****ion among investigators. The so-called “Fields” shares the same birth date as Holyfield, has a similar address, and when reporters called the phone number associated with those prescriptions, Holyfield answered.

Holyfield on Wednesday vehemently denied ever using steroids.

Authorities are investigating a large Internet steroid production and distribution ring. The probe is being led by the Albany County (N.Y.) district attorney’s office and is expected to produce up to two dozen arrests. Law enforcement officials raided Signature Pharmacy in Orlando, Fla., on Tuesday. Signature sold more than $10 million worth of illegal drugs in New York alone, according to investigators.

Holyfield has not been tied to Signature but to Applied Pharmacy in Alabama, which also is part of the investigation. According to SI.com, the 44-year-old former champion is believed to be “Evan Fields” by investigators. He allegedly picked up drugs from a private Georgia urologist, whose offices also were raided. Authorities traced the drugs to Applied in Mobile, Ala., which was raided last fall.

The Web site reports that in June 2004, an individual believed by investigators to be Holyfield picked up three vials of testosterone, two vials of the drug Glukor, and injection supplies. Then, less than a week later, he received five vials of human growth hormone (HGH) and related supplies.

Asked about his alleged involvement, Holyfield issued a statement through his promoter that said: “I do not use steroids. I have never used steroids.”

Fantastic writing Breadman, your writing is always insightful and often evocative as with the answer to the last question. Your sentences are short sharp and punchy, a stick and move writer?

Btw, note to other posters; there is no need to use 'thus' and 'hence'. Ever.

Love the breadman articles. The only thing on BS i look forward too. However, i disagree on jacobs vs GGG rematch. One big thing getting overlooked is jacobs played the weigh in game and came in as a LHW and still lost. In a rematch theyll both be at same level and thats not good for jacobs obviously since he even went down as a LHW againstGGG. Canelo just cant beat GGG. And Charlo is the easiest fight of them all. Easy to hit and outbox and gets ko'd within 7 rds

Jacobs came in as a LHW, are you regurgitating rumors or facts? What was his weight on fight night? You go on to conclude that they would be at the "same level" in a rematch, care to explain? Charlo is easiest of them all? I highly doubt that. Your a big GGG fan which is cool, but
Breadman gave u the knowledge so take it

I didn't know Breadman was such a big fan of Holyfield.

That kinda change my opinion about him. Lol!

GGG is fun to watch but not my favorite guy. Loma and crawford my favorites along with gassiev. The rules changed on same day weigh ins is why i say theyll both be at top level this time. And yeah it was talked about jacobs being high 70's or even low 80s on fn. Charlo easy to hit. Easy to outbox and has ovverated power against prospects and power came, out of nowhere meaning its steroid use or it is the fact that these prospects just werent what was hoped for. I mean to think jacobs didnt skip the weigh in in order to gain pounds would be ridiculous lol. And yeah i love breadmans knowledge but dont necessarily agree with every single thing anyone says. We are all wrong at times about fight game and its ok.. like say for instance there are ppl who ignore what happened in GGG Canelo fight and actually think a clean Canelo is gonna improve by leaps and bounds and GGG is gonna fall so low that Canelo gonna school him in a rematch lol. Anyway. Peace out
