He needs to stay where he's at. He really needs a real promoter.

i think wilder is just leaving the possibility of fighting the usyk/gassiev winner....and that could be at HW...but hes just mentioning the cruiser division because of those guys...both of those guys have expressed interest in HW

theres a scenario in which, after povetkin, AJ chases fury first....and that means it could take awhile before we see AJ/Wilder(presumably if AJ could beat fury).......and that would leave wilder without any desirable fights

i think the winner of gassiev/usyk would be the most interesting fight wilder could make if he weren't fighting AJ/fury....so hes prob just name dropping their division in case he has to make that fight.....i could see AJ stalling this fight another two years or a year and half if he chases/gets fury

Nah he doesn't want for the fight to come to him. By his own words he wants to make history for dipping down and picking up that 200 lb championship then moving back up to heavyweight.

usyk vs gassiev winner would be undisputed at cruiser.

so by wilder moving down he would have the oppurtunity to be the first man in history to be undidputed in 2 weight classes at the same time.

          thats the definition of commendable

The top guys have already said they're moving up to HW after the tournament. Also, there's no US audience for CWs. It's all in Europe and the money isn't even comparable to HW money. Plus, cutting down to 205, even for someone like Wilder, would be too much at his age.
No US Audience...... No money in CW fights? Deontay will feel right at home. A great career move..... I’m playing....well sort of

I call it wishful thinking. But you are right. However, Joshua will stop Wilder. I will win a lot of money in the process like I always do. Then my guess is ,Wilder will move down to cruiserweight and become undisputed there. Deontay achieving that feat when only 6 months prior getting knocked out in his previous undisputed Heavyweight bout, now that is commendable

I really don't know why people are making so much of this throw-away comment. My su****ion is that Wilder would be totally drained at CW and would probably ruin him as a fighter.

It's much harder to move down in weight and win belts. If Wilder decides to give it a shot after his business is done at Heavyweight, I'm all for it. It would be legit boxing history and a feat that would land him in the HOF. Controlling both divisions at the same time, those are lofty goals that may serve to shorten his career rather than excel it. My hope would be that he would go down, win belts, then return to full Heavyweight and finish of the last half of his career. If this statement wasn't tongue in cheek of course.

                      Exactly.

Heavyweights suck , they are old or very flawed.
If Wilder makes CW it would be amazing and he will have great comp.
                      If love to see this
