Man, is this guy good or what? He ALWAYS manages to find an excuse for himself and his loyal followers to buy into. The latest one about losing to Tarver on purpose crosses the line between pathological lying to make yourself look better and sheer INSANITY. I'm starting to think Tarver's KO of Jones in 2004 led to the breakdown of Roy's mental stability because the man is just not right in the head. He's broken as a fighter thanks to Tarver and now he has to make excuses to save his legacy when all he's really doing is adding sheer embarassment to an otherwise impressive career. If Roy wants to be remembered for his accomplishments rather than his excuses, he needs to cut the B.S. IMMEDIATELY. Here's a rundown of some of Roy's greatest moments!
November 8, 2003
Roy is beaten from pillar to post against Tarver but ekes out a decision win that the arena feels Roy lost. To win his fans back over, Roy blames his performance on having to lose 25lbs in coming down from heavyweight. The problem with that is Roy's most recent fight before that was on the first day of March. That's 6 months he could have been training for Tarver given a 2 month rest! Oh, but wait, Roy didn't know who his opponent would be yet. See, he spent all of 2003 pretending to campaign at heavyweight only to pull out against EVANDER HOLYFIELD and LENNOX LEWIS, letting James Toney dismantle Holyfield instead. Roy quiets down and sneaks back to light heavyweight where he thinks he will beat Tarver with ease. Thanks for the excuse, Roy!

Jones is set to rematch Tarver to prove to his fans his performance in November was a fluke and due to weight loss. Tarver, tired of hearing the excuses, asks Roy if he has anymore before the fight. Roy is left speechless and knocked out less than 6 minutes later. After the fight, Roy explains why he lost, saying he has trouble getting motivated for "guys like this", alluding to Tarver, the man who, in November, gave him the toughest fight of his career, and now knocked him out. Do you really need motivation to beat the guy who almost beat you once and then DID beat you the 2nd time? Thanks for the excuse, Roy!

Jones is on the comeback trail after avoiding the completion of his trilogy with Tarver. Roy's excuse is that he wants to have a belt going into negotiations with Tarver. Surely his fans won't mind if he takes on an easier opponent; after all, he's done it his whole career! Jones' aura of invincibility all but vanished, Johnson is on him from the opening bell, leaving Jones knocked cold by the 9th round. Jones has no comment after the fight, but his fans claim he got old somewhere between the first and second Tarver fight (so as to cover up Jones' knockout loss to Tarver). Thanks for the excuse, Roy fans!

Jones' excuses have reached the breaking point as HBO is forced to name a PAY-PER-VIEW event "NO EXCUSES" in the hopes that the winner of the Tarver-Jones trilogy offers up none. Roy loses a wide decision, almost getting knocked out, but offers up no excuse for the loss...until now, claiming he didn't want to win because his father was working his corner (WHO JONES WANTED TO WORK HIS CORNER BEFORE THE FIGHT CONVENIENTLY).
It's been a great run, waiting to see what the next excuse would be, Roy, but the buck stops somewhere. Surely, if he loses to Prince BADMNA(DIMNDLSDJ(FHJKAD, he'll have nothing but compliments for his opponent, right? At least for 6 months or so before he comes up with something new. Thanks for the excuses, Roy.
