HBO offered what they offered and GGG's team could only pick who they could afford.
If Golden Boy is going to nickle and dime GGG then its their fault the fight won't happen. Now I'm all for asking for more and making as much as you possibly can. However, do you reasonably think that GBP is going to go above 35%. I mean sure you ask for 50% and hope for 40%, but at this point, what is reasonable?Comment

If Canelo and his team aren't willing to budge then they are the reason the fight isn't happening. I think GGG's team is trying to play hardball to get a better percentage. Maybe they are willing to take 40%. But if Golden Boy is holding firm at 35% then its on them. For the amount of PPVs GGG helped them sell and all the money GGG lost out on for the May fight they shouldn't be so stubborn. Make the fight.Comment

You didn't answer the question. You deflected with the nickel and dime statement. 15% of a Alvarez fight's revenue isn't a nickel and dime situation. So again, what's reasonable? What makes 35% unreasonable given that GGG received 30% for the first fight? Alvarez does not owe GGG money to make up for money GGG didn't make off Alvarez in May. That's not how it works. If GGG didn't fight at all due to a last minute cancellation, there would be some argument that GGG lost an opportunity for revenue. If the prior contract had a purse guarantee, there would be some argument. However, those two circumstances don't exist.Last edited by Ake-Dawg; 05-30-2018, 06:29 AM.Comment

Not blaming you AT ALL man, but how can some of y’all defend GBP and their bullsh-it?
Dude, I did NOT condone and cheer on GGG when he fought Vanes and I believe I commented just that at the time....i don’t like it when ANY boxer and/or their promotional team try to pull the wool over our eyes, Fuck that!Comment

But neither is the difference between revenues for ppv fights that sell only 400k and one that sells well over a million ppvs. Canelo should be thankful for that.
Well GGG was Canelo's biggest PPV fight for when Canelo was the PPV A-side for one thing. For another thing, Canelo pissed hot and it pissed away the May 5th rematch and a lot of GGG's money. For one last thing, the animosty and the controversy can only make the September fight bigger. You don't strike while the iron is hot and people's interest wanes. So Canelo needs to bend to make this happen. So again, what's reasonable? What makes 35% unreasonable given that GGG received 30% for the first fight?
He doesn't. But he cost GGG money and GGG wants more. Justifiable position as well.Alvarez does not owe GGG money to make up for money GGG didn't make off Alvarez in May. That's not how it works.
Horse*****. He fought a no-name fighter for comparative chump change so that he didn't waste a training camp and could stay on schedule for a possible September date with Canelo. Had Canelo not ****ed up the fight on such short notice a more high profile replacement fight might have been made.
If GGG didn't fight at all due to a last minute cancellation, there would be some argument that GGG lost an opportunity for revenue.Comment
