I get that, my point though was that the same avenues to success that worked for Floyd were not open to Golovkin.

I personally think GGG is a nice guy and I wish him all the best. Both he and Floyd had to deal with a lot.

GGG, being Eastern Euro in the States, with no command of the English language and a weak team. For Floyd, despite his otherworldly boxing skills, suffered from being black in the US. This is still a real thing, by the way, not playing the victim.

In GGG's situation, the premature overhype had a negative impact on his career, IMO, although he's finally making a good coin. That, as of yet undeserved, hype had turned off many potential good fans.

In my case, as I started to know and began to like GGG, his overrating to the moon made me scrutinize him and turned me into a fierce critic, nothing racial or national about it. I'm now mellowed out about that!

Sooner or later he will do make no mistake about that.
Name me one fighter that never wanted to win a world title and become numero uno.
He won't be able to keep fighting fringe contenders and expect big ppv numbers.
You forget two important things one a fighter will always go after the champion and want to win belts.
canelo if you have forgotten is currently suspended for ped taking so when he doe's make a comeback at the moment his credibility is shredded to ****.
He will have to work even harder to make the paying pulic accept him back and fighting the spike sullivans of this world in his future fights will not cut it.
All roads still lead to the man with with all the belts thats the way it has been in history and the will be in the future

You make some great points but be honest.... Do you really think Canelo will fight for 30% vs any fighter for any amount of money??
If Canelo ever does fight for a belt then he'll be forced to give the champion a bigger percentage but never above 50% and definitely never give someone else 70%.

GGG should be getting better deals than Canelo as he is a unified Champion not other way round. GGG needs to ask money guaranteed no matter what, if Canelo try to cheat again and fail drug test again.

Well they are stuck on a 65/35 standstill right now.... I don't see Triple g getting 50% so we'll have to wait and see what happens.... Maybe he'll get another 5%, IDK...

GGG is scared of CANELO.

CANELO already made Golovkin look like a bum & will do so in the 2nd fight , so CANELO should pay Golovkin the same amount Golovkin pays his bums to fight him , to give him a taste of his own medicine.

Jacobs got 41% if the total purse for fighting Golovkin.

Most folks don't care. Clenbuterol is a PED, but it isn't really a steroid, per see.

You add that HBO isn't talking about it, ESPN isn't talking about it, and the general boxing press isn't pushing the story (plus Golovkin choosing to fight a bull**** fight against 2-year retired Vanes Martirosyan), and the story is basically dead before Independence Day.

The only thing that'd give the story any further longevity would be if Alvarez picked a bum for his first fight back; he fights Saunders or Jacobs and the public won't even acknowledge the suspension even happened

GGG does in fact deserve a better percentage and by refusing to renegotiate the rematch, Canelo is basically pricing himself out of the rematch. Canelo should have been given a full year suspension! 6 months is a joke.

Golovkin fought the first fight for 30% of the pot, as "middleweight king", and only mustered up a draw against a guy who had all of one fight north of 155lbs before fighting him.

Saunders isn't likely to take 30 or 20 percent to fight Canelo neither is Jacobs.

Saunders will likely get something near 20% of the event plus the UK rights to the fight; how that number comes out formally will be between Frank and BJS, but you'd be foolish to expect more.

Daniel Jacobs, basically a year removed from the earliest he's likely to be able to force a fight, would be taking on the biggest draw at the weight, in a voluntary defense of the lineal title; if you think that Jacobs/Hearn/Haymon are ****** enough to look at a likely $15m-$20m payday for an at worse 50/50 fight and *****, you're a fool.
