Who could GGG have fought at his prime where he wouldn't be the favourite?

Ward, KKK, anyone at 168-175. He could have challenged himself to be great. If you want to have a resume on par with Monroe Jr, then you will get treated like him.

Why would Cotto have to fight GGG? GGG has never been in a fight that he wasn't the favorite. You can't bring up one of GGG fights on the level of Cotto vs May, Pac , Canelo , Mosley, Margs, etc etc. Name a few of GGG fights where he could prove he is better.
Cotto moved up to MW to beat the lineal champion but you can't tell me anytime that GGG even took a chance like that. Loma does it, KKK takes on the best, GGG not so much.

I agree GGG hasn't had great opponents. Back to your original point about how GGG is better than Cotto. Guys fought Cotto because he has a name and is beatable. Until Jacobs and Canelo no one would fight him, now they line up to. Not to mention there hasn't been anyone of recognition at mw until the last few years. This last year wasted on Canelo.

I agree that the MW division hasn't been great. The reason I can't say he is better is because Cotto fought other good fighters. GGG had no challenges at 160 and was ok with calling out WW and Jr MWs. I think GGG is a good fighter but he seems like he is content with fighting bums and making the Fight Games P4P list. I don't think its him but his team and that's why he isn't a PPV star, they mismanaged the guy. Loma lost to Salido but that hasn't stopped his movement. It's because he is putting himself in position to be great win, lose , or draw. Loma is a Shark seeking out other Sharks. GGG is a Shark seeking out Salmon.

Loma is off topic, but he is a good example of a Elite fighter trying to challenge himself.

Again, which law was that? What part of the contract did he breach? Fights are canceled for many reasons and no one files suit. I wonder why? Perhaps because no law is actually broken and the escape clause that is typical of these contracts is ironclad. At a minimum, GGG would have to prove (not assert) willful negligence in a country that is known worldwide as having a widespread problem with tainted meat, as well as the intention to deprive GGG of income. Good luck with that. If a law were broken or if there were a rule infraction, you can bet that GGG and his lawyers would sue Canelo for tens of millions plus (you'll like this one) pain and suffering.

I couldn't have agreed more. Canelo's reputation and legacy is irreparably tarnished. He will never get his good name back. Canelo got busted and now the burden of proof is on him to prove to the public that he is clean and can defeat GGG without doping or juicing. Therefore Saul Alvarez needs Gennady Golovkin a whole lot more than GGG needs Canelo because the boxing public will never allow him to live down what he did.

He doesnt have to prove any of that.
All he has to show is loss of earnings, whether thats expenses or a guaranteed purse.
The fight was cancelled because canelo tested positive & was banned as a result. Intention on canelos part is moot as he's failed the test, ignorance isnt an excuse in law

The problem with your post is that most fans don't care. Canelo will probably draw more now that his clean image is gone, I don't think it's good , but there is no way that he needs GGG more.
