  • Comments Thread For: Hearn Provides Update on Joshua vs. Wilder Negotiations

While doing a phone interview on 'the 3 Knockdown Rule' podcast with Mario Lopez, promoter Eddie Hearn was asked about the status of the negotiations between IBF/WBA/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs), and WBC belt-holder, Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs).

If the fight happens in the UK, it seems Eddie/AJ is willing to give Wilder a substantial %. (Maybe 40%?)

It will be interesting to see how this plays out but I think it's safe to assume we're getting this fight next. (Seems like a 90% chance right now.)

The fighters are to thank here. Both guys want the fight. Good stuff.

I honestly hate when Hearn speaks of this fight.

His first sticking point was indeed the money. He wanted to offer Wilder something small, and challenged Wilder's team to offer 50 mil and he would take the fight.

Wilder's team then offered the 50 mil, and now he speaks of fight location. What difference does it make how many fans are in attendance if you are not the one putting up the money? If Wilder's team wants to pay 50 mil and put the fight on in front of his immediate family and stream it on PPV so be it! If you wanted to determine the location, then be lead promoter and put up the guarantee.

Wilder's team is supposed to take ALL the financial risks for the fight, AND fight Joshua in his backyard? Quite honestly, if Haymon, Finkel, or anyone else involved in Wilder's career goes for this BS they are absolute idiots, and Eddie is the best promoter/ manager in boxing for getting his fighter the sweetest deal of all time. Hopefully PBC stands firm, and isnt that damn thirsty for this fight because if they go forward on those terms they are fools.

I don't care where the fight happens as long as it happens. But people are seeing Eddie is full of it. Turning down $50 mil plus doesn't make me confident the fight will happen next
