I get their desire to finish, but wouldn't this tournament set a bad precedent for the future ones? I think this whole idea looks great on paper, but proves to be a complete waste and should not attract the top talent because these issues defeat the primary purpose of this type of a tournament: to determine who is truly the best in the division. Well, at least, this is a primary purpose the way I see it. For organizers, I guess, the primary purpose might be $$$, in which case this kind of conclusion is logical.

The CW tournament has been epic, this SMW tournament has been good. Do not ruin the luster for the next set of tournaments by rushing the final. If it takes until after the first round of the next tournaments to get this final in, then who cares? It is worth seeing it through.Comment

They need to finish the tournament though. They need to clear space for the next series and this one can't go on indefinitely. What's more it's not fair on Smith who is training for an unknown opponent on an unknown date and meanwhile is missing out on other potential paydays.
I think they need to get this done and then hopefully Groves and the winner can fight afterwards.Comment

Yes he does, but he also needs to earn in the meantime. Should he wait indefinitely? What if another 6 or more months pass and Groves decides to pack it in? I think that's a possibility to be honest given the way he's talked previously.
I think they finish the tournament and the winner, hopefully Smith if it's him vs Eubank, faces Groves once he's fit again. It's by no means perfect I know, but what's a better alternative?Comment
