Dexamethasone is in the world anti-doping agency list of prohibited items only during competition and not BEFORE competition, because it is misused by certain long distance athletes like cyclists and marathon runners when they are competing in high altitudes. This is because dexamethasone can be used to treat/prevent mountain sickness, and gives the athlete a competitive edge of the rest of the competition. Lee Chong Wei's competition was held in Copenhagen Denmark, a country ranked 225 in the "List of countries by highest point". Therefore, taking dexamethasone will hardly be of any benefit in terms of cheating. (GeorgeTown Pharmacy)

Dexamethasone comes under the category of Glucocorticoids and is banned in competition only. That means if it were detected in the off season or before a competition, it would not be considered unlawful. According to Tan Sri Dr Mani Jegathesan, the chairman of the Medical and Anti-doping Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia, the substance is considered to affect performances indirectly.

Not even really a PED guys!

I have no idea. This drug is brand new to me. I'm learning too and could be miserably wrong.

When I read corticosteroid I was thinking about creams and stuff. I got some anti-itch cream for poison ivy that has corticosteroids in it. Jock itch creams have corticosteroids in them too right?

They might have popped AJ for PEDs in his last fight against Parker for all we know. We just won't hear about it until 2020.
UKAD are the biggest joke in drug testing. They lost all credibility a long time ago. Backhanders from Hearn are the only thing keeping them financially afloat.

There is a reason AJ loves to use them.
