Respect that a lot more and am a bigger fan of his for his humbleness. Didn’t act like Danny Garcia or Canelo trying to claim he won. Just gave his opponent credit and promised to come back stronger props to him

Gary Russell has the come forward plodder style figured out. Jojo is just a slightly larger version. Jojo boxes like his feet are under water, he hit Russel with punches thrown the round before. Slow plodders are Gary's bread and butter.

Diaz put up a solid effort. I honestly thought he was going to get the victory and thought Russell’s inactivity was going to negatively impact him. I was wrong of course. Hopefully Russell stays more active now since he’s still young and in prime years of his career. Diaz is also young and I’m sure this fight will be a learning experience that he’ll be able to get better from. Solid fight but Russell the clear victor last night.

You can tell JoJo is one of the good guys in boxing and Russell is top notch in the ring. Hope JoJo wins a title within a year or so. As for Russell, he needs stay busy!

I second this. His father should have been trying to get a rise out of Jo Jo. The fight was very close through the first 7 then from 8 to 11 Diaz let Russell Jr. off the hook.
His father was entirely to nice and calm in those high pressure rounds.

This is one of those situations where the father or son say to each other that they have gotten as father as they can and Jo Jo brings in another set of eyes for his corner.

I really thought that Russell would fade and Diaz would take over, but Russell stayed on it the whole time physically and mentally. Great performance.

Jo Jo did something that is becoming more and more rarer in this sport he should professionalism and class.

Jo Jo proved he belonged with the elite in the division. If I am one of the champions I want no part of him. He's got a tools and upside that I believe a Freddie Roach, Robert Garcia, Joel Diaz, or Floyd Sr. could get more out of him.

He's a class act. He's going to learn from this. Hopefully he gets back into the ring again over the summer and keeps working. He'll be a champion soon. He went after the hardest fighter in the division and had his moments.

Yep. Good fighter. Great attitude. This was a good fight for him, and should help him immensely next time he fights for a belt.
