  • Is it just me or do both these guys kind of suck in terms of top level boxing? Obviously they are both way better than I will ever be at boxing, but compared to the top guys I mean. Everyone kept saying they were good so Im confused. Fight was super slow paced, Stevenson still has power but looked super slow and old, and he only has one hand, and no stamina. Jack isn't old, but somehow also showed awful stamina, and he looked weak for light heavyweight. He couldn't hurt a chinny fighter, his power sucks too but hey we already knew that because he couldn't even drop George Groves at 168. I didn't think so before the fight, but I'm now confident Eleider Alvarez would beat both of these guys, let alone Bivol, Beterbiev, and Kovalev. I think Marcus Browne would have a shot too.

    • Really exciting fight. Both guys showed lots of heart and determination. A draw is understandable. Stevenson got the crap kicked out of him but you have to score fights by the 10 point must system. They have to change that system one day, or maybe we'll have to stop calling this "fighting". Shouldn't the winner be the guy who inflicts the most damage?

      • Jack gave away to many early rounds Stevenson let Jack back in the second half of the fight but it wasn't enough. The draw was fair.

of course it isn't wrong, there is no book of rules on how to read score cards, but he took all the anticipation away from it

Agree about the stamina, although it was never this bad, but you're right it was always bad. Speed wise, he has clearly lost 5 MPH off his fastball, as they say. But your point stands well. It's obvious why they kept him away from the top guys this whole time. He is one handed. He has bad stamina. He is chinny. It's a testament to how overrated Jack's power is that he fought two of the chinniest guys in the sport, Groves at 168 and now Groves, caught them both flush, and couldn't even drop them let alone KO them. Jack's entire reputation is based on doing something to James Degale that Rogelio Medina had already did. I guess Medina would also be a top opponent for Stevenson then lol, based on the logic of some of these fans? But hey, at this point, I think maybe he would... lol...

Oh, and Caleb Truax also did the same **** Jack did to Degale, just after. So one C-level guy did it before, one C-level guy did it after, but somehow Jack is the one who "ended Degale" and who is a top fighter. Please.

                • Showtime crew came up with some gems tonight.....

                  Badou “114-114” Jack
                  BaDraw Jack

I thought Stevenson saved himself with that body work at the end of the 10th and 11th

                  • According to how fights are scored today, a draw is an acceptable result. According to what happened in the boxing ring, Adonis Stevenson got his ass kicked. And if not for a timely body shot in the tenth that gave him some much needed relief. And a hometown referee allowing him to hug his way to the final bell, he would have been KO’d.

My issue isn’t with the result. My issue is with the way fights are scored. I hate the ten point must system. But that’s not even the issue here. The issue is that for whatever reason, judges don’t score rounds even anymore. At least half of the rounds Stevenson “won” could have been scored even. Because even though Jack wasn’t doing ****, neither was Stevenson. He got awarded rounds for coming forward missing punches. Aggression and effective aggression are two different things. And today’s judges and fans seem to not know the difference between the two. If either of the two judges that scored one of those rounds even, the right guy wins the fight tonight.

                    • I had Jack up by a round but the draw seems right. As much as Badou outboxed him in the 2nd half of the fight, he just didn't have the power to stop Stevenson with a big shot or keep the output high enough to wear him down. He got stuck with a pretty good shot to the midsection in the 10th that almost got him in trouble too.

I do give the champ a lot of credit for coming back late in the fight and not going down in the 12th.

                      A rematch I'd watch.
