Been picking Stevenson since this fight got signed. Was super excited for it then. Nothing has changed. I am excited for it. Still got Stevenson. Sure his competition has been "B+" at best, but he still has looked the part of a near complete fighter. Jack is legit. Solid enough in every phase to take this fight if Stevenson has slipped or if he does not come seriously prepped. He can hurt with punches even if he does not have KO power. He can defend well, even if he is not really quick of feet. He can be patient and does not seem to really make a ton of mistakes. He can beat Stevenson.
But at the top of his game, Stevenson is special. He has power even beyond that straight left that can bring nights to an end quick. He has both a long reach and yet mixes it up well on the inside. He has great head movement and recovers well from getting tagged. If he hasn't gotten old from last year, he should win this one and quiet his critics for a week or so.Comment

To me, it’s not about cherishing one belt, I prefer guys who want to dominate their weight class and leave no question as to who’s the best. I’ve been a boxing fan for over 30 years so I know fighters don’t have as much say in who they face as most folks think, but Stevenson seems to me like he’s comfortable with his one belt, defending it once a year for a check. He isn’t striving to be the best LHW in the world anymore IMO. I’m a fan of the sport and I like what Stevenson brings to the game, but I hate that we will never see him and Kovelev in the ring together. Hopefully the powers that be will allow them to scrap before it’s to late.Comment

The old debate is still on.... What if Hopkins didn't turn his back when Stevenson obviously moved for an "agreement" with Showtime to get what was then a bigger fight than Kovalev?... What if Kovalev's clan didn't turn its back when the purse bid was ordered after he got the WBC mando spot handed to him?
I know that was "Then" , but efforts were made and you can't take that way unless you (in general, not you in particular) are blatantly unfair...
I'll agree that since then not much has been done though...Last edited by Superbee; 06-05-2018, 10:43 AM.Comment
