This is a huge step. From reading different fighters accounts of the random testing, they don't test nearly often enough anyway but at least the fear of them showing up probably keeps the guys clean.

And with Canelo having been fighting at the same exact dates for the past bunch of years, it would be so easy to cycle on and off PED between fights and never get caught. Let's see if he performs any differently the next time these 2 fight each other.

Give Canelo props for doing it before contracts are signed, which was a suspect position as he can determine when that is, thereby evading testing.

On the other hand, if he withdrew from the fight early April, he could have done a cycle and come off it within the 45 days we are talking about. It's a shame he didn't immediately continue testing to avoid any doubt.

I doubt that they will sign the contract until Golovkin and Abel Sanchez whine and moan and get their army of GGG cheerleaders to dog Canelo in hopes of getting a better deal. Canelo should fight someone else in September and tell these miscreants to kiss his behind. At a minimum and because of their habitual whining and off the wall comments he should make GGG grovel until next May or better yet September of 2019.
