Comments Thread For: Golovkin Promoter: Canelo Did The Right Thing, A Good Step

On Tuesday, Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) announced that he enrolled in year-round testing with VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association). Canelo has been under fire since testing positive, twice, for the banned substance clenbuterol back in February. While Canelo was firm that his positive tests were a direct result of ingesting contaminated meat in Mexico - the Nevada State Athletic Commission still suspended him for six months.

Let's cross our fingers that he stays clean so the rematch happens in September.

No Clen for Clenelo. He will just have to eat normal steaks from now on. His going to miss those special cuts of meat.

Ggg cares a lot or he wouldn't have had his promoter write a letter to nsac telling them they must go by their strict liability rule and suspend canelo.ggg would have to actually land power punches not jabs in order to sleep him canelo didn't have any trouble landing power on him

This is a huge step. From reading different fighters accounts of the random testing, they don't test nearly often enough anyway but at least the fear of them showing up probably keeps the guys clean.

And with Canelo having been fighting at the same exact dates for the past bunch of years, it would be so easy to cycle on and off PED between fights and never get caught. Let's see if he performs any differently the next time these 2 fight each other.
