Benn had the power to stun Toney, I'll agree...as did Jackson; but James was far more skilled, technically, than either of those two and would have survived until his head cleared. Ultmately, Toney would have TKO'ed Benn somewhere around the 8th or 9th and Jackson sooner, IMHO.
FROM WHAT I REMEMBER OF BENN HE PUNCHED WATSONS ARMS FOR SIX ROUNDS BEFORE FALLING THROUGH EXAUSTION, WAS ON NBC, THOUGHT HE WAS A MAJOR HYPE JOB....BUT THEN HE SORTED HIMSELF OUT AND BY THE TIME THE DOUG DEWITT FIGHT CAME ALONG HE WAS TIMING HIS HITS AND HITTING HARD ALL THROUGH THE ROUNDS.......THEN I REMEMBER HIM ON SHOWTIME LATER ON IN HIS CAREER WHERE HE WAS MUCH CALMER AND DUCKING AND WEAVING AND COMING OUT OF FIGHTS WITHOUT A MARK ON HIM.....IF THE CALMER BENN FOUGHT TONEY IT COULD BE A CLOSE ONE ON POINTS (BENN LOSING OUT), THE WILDER BENN WOULD HAVE A PUNCHERS CHANCE, THE MID VERSION OF BENN (DEWITT MODE) WOULD OF TAKEN JAMES OUT UNLESS JAMES WAS ON THE VERY TOP OF HIS GAME...

Um, he was KTFO'd against Corrales. He didn't go down because Weeks saved him from being killed.

I truthfully can't see any middleweight of that time taking Toney out...hell, for that matter, any middlweight who ever lived; but you make good points about Benn maturing as he got older. I was a big fan of his at the time.

Toney's been down legitimately once. He's never been really hurt in a fight.

            Castillo has.

Best version of Benn would've not beaten the worst version of Toney. Styles makes fight, Toney would've owned Benn every single night.

                  Right.

And he never went to the canvas. Unlike Toney who went down when Johnson sneezed instead of threw a punch.
