Toney is still fighting at Heavy Weight and even a solid heavy weight puncher like Rahman has a LOT more power than any middleweight.Originally posted by Moschino045how can u say toney?? he rolls his shoulders & never gets hit flush, plus he never fought big punchers like julian jackson or benn
toney's chin has a question mark over it, becos his defence is that good !
The fact is I have never really seen Toney hurt. Toney doesn't lose because of his skills or chin, he loses because of conditioning and low work rate in fights.Comment

Toney Was The Underdog Against Barkley, But That Fight 'made Him'.......if He Fought Benn Instead Of Barkley, James Would Of Been A Big Underdog...Comment

Originally posted by Gunstar1Does he look hurt, guess not! He's jumping up & down. Castillo looked dead against Chico, also the ropes held Castillo or else he would've been down.
Regardless.
Castillo's ability to absorb punishment of that caliber, from that caliber of puncher, and not fall to the canvas....speaks for itself. That was my initial point.
Here we see Toney eat a flush shot from Johnson and he goes to the canvas.
Toney has a great chin, but he doesn't get hit like Castillo does because of his excellent defense.
Castillo doesn't shoulder roll, he blocks punches with his face.

SORRY BUT THATS ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS, NIGEL BENN???Originally posted by Gunstar1Lol, I highly doubt that my friend. Both Benn and Jackson would've been easy fights for Toney.Comment

Id Pick Toney From The Barkley Fight To Get The Better Of Benn, But Nigel Benn Is Not An Easy Fight For Anybody In History..you'd Have To Be Superman Or Something.......Comment

From what I remember of Benn...he burned out in the later rounds if he didn't get you out early around that time. He had a stamina problem because he started round one on all 8 cylinders. Toney was dropped against Johnson; but wasn't in serious trouble....never has been to my knowledge. Benn had the power to stun Toney, I'll agree...as did Jackson; but James was far more skilled, technically, than either of those two and would have survived until his head cleared. Ultmately, Toney would have TKO'ed Benn somewhere around the 8th or 9th and Jackson sooner, IMHO.Originally posted by Super CruiserweightToney Was The Underdog Against Barkley, But That Fight 'made Him'.......if He Fought Benn Instead Of Barkley, James Would Of Been A Big Underdog...Comment

Rahman was in shape, for his age. He will never be 'fresh' again though, not like he was when he was younger. He wasn't very good back then either btw.Originally posted by boxer2k5what rahman hit him flush in the 1st or 2nd round
with a right hand
rahman was fresh in the best shape of his life
and it didnt phase toney
Toney does have the best chin on this list though.Comment

Castillo also doesn't have a big head and a big neck like Toney does. People forget that part of Toney defense comes from his chin, he's willing to take some clean shot like that, not many people roll their head in a front of a big puncher, that tells you Toney doesn't care if he's get hit on top of his head.Originally posted by RunWithKnivesRegardless.

Big part of Toney's defense comes from his chin.
Castillo chin is great, but it's just not as good as Toney. Hagler is another fighter that has never been hurt, he had one off balance knockdown in his career.Last edited by GunStar; 06-22-2006, 03:34 PM.Comment
