Question for those thinking Loma doesn't deserve his just due....

I've been hearing Loma NEEDS to beat Mikey in order to be labeled as the "real deal". Even after he just TKO'd Linares.

I'm just wondering who were people claiming that Mikey HAD to fight that gave him his "real deal" status? What fighter was the real deal already, that people said Mikey had to move up in weight for and beat him in order for Mikey to be the man?

I say that to say this: people place these hoops for Loma to jump through in order to prove his worthiness, when they don't/didn't apply that same criterion to EVERY other boxer.

And for people to call him a god, or better than Ali, or the best ever - is NOT good enough of a reason to apply this benchmark to ONLY Loma. That's simply conjecture.

To be clear: I want this fight. I think this is a really good fight. And I don't think Loma nor Mikey are afraid to share the same ring with one another.

Anyone who discredits Loma at this point is just an idiot and should be treated as such.

It's usually the Haymon/TMT group who deny Loma, but then praise davis...

The rest of us give him his just due. Can't wait for the Mickey fight

people wanting loma to "jump through hoops" is reactionary....for years people wanted Floyd and ward to jump through hoops...and even after ward did and made the boogeyman quit people still had to listen to whining and excuses

loma is great no question...but hes going to be a victim, at least on boxing boards, of prior behavior and always asked to do more or take a big risk/challenge

people act as if this standard wasn't already applied to great fighters years ago

coincidentally the only time a supposed great fighter wasn't demanded to jump through hoops recently was golovkin...he constantly had excuses made up for him every time he didn't take a risk or a challenge....when ward came calling the excuses flew and he ended up fighting brook and wade

he refused to negotiate on a cw for cotto or canelo...he might have at least had an outside shot of getting canelo earlier if he was open to it

not only were very good fighters with good resume always asked to do more...when someone people wanted to be great didn't do more they made excuses for him

loma will prob be a victim in this

people have real short memories around here

when ward was nearing the first kovalev fight people said "he will back out...he will come up with an injury or find an excuse to duck"....they said he would "be difficult to negotiate with"......"ill believe it when he walks through the ropes"...yet he showed up and duva said it was a pretty easy deal to get done

then after the result they said he would find ways out of the rematch...."why isn't it done yet? it should be done already...ward is scared...hes gonna duck...watch him retire"

whoooppps....then they cried about a ref and headbutts or whatever else

its funny how quickly these people forget their own behavior...but then cry when someone has the gall to say something about loma
