A new star was created on Saturday night, as Jaime Munguia (29-0, 25 KOs) of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, scored an emphatic fourth-round technical knockout victory against Sadam "World Kid" Ali (26-2, 14 KOs) of Brooklyn to capture the WBO junior middleweight world title at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York.

He’s more than ready! The NSAC saved GGG b/c Munguia could have ruined their plans for the September rematch.

Not saying Munguia would have won but it would have been a rough night for sure.

Munguia seems legit. Glad he was not thrown to the wolves in a Golovkin fight. He is good enough to make a real top name out of himself if he does not rest on this win but keeps dedicated and focused.

Munguia is a legitimate threat to everyone @ 154! I would leave him @ 154 for a year or two, then up to 160! Kanat Islam is promoted by the same people as Lomachenko, so maybe GBP/HBO can make that happen! Sulecki is another option, and HBO was pleased with his performance too! Sulecki is probably better for 154 too!

Small bump. Munguia is humble, I'm glad he's not one of those : "I would have beat GGG!" Types that think that they would have beat the best for fighting a scrub.

He’s only 21! HE wasn’t ready for GGG but the 154 division is getting really interesting now with Hurd and Charlo and kid.

That Munguia kid looked huge compared to welterweights Ali.... I’d like to see Munguia vs Hurd....

Munguia should thank 2 contributors for his oppurtunity outside of Zanfer Promotions.

Number 1 is HBO because clearly they wanted this young monster on there network it seems for a while. Mission Accomplished

Number 2 is Golden Boy Promotions. Munguia should really thank them for serving up Ali on a silver platter.

Ali was dismantled from opening bell. Ultimately cong**** to Munguia for capitalizing.

If I was Zanfer Promotions I would package Berchelt, Nery, and Munguia to HBO, Showtime, ESPN, or Eddie Hearns to see who could give them the biggest platform and who would help grow there promotion stateside.
