It’s hilarious that you would comment critically on Loma’s movement. He has the best footwork in boxing history according to every expert commentator who’s been asked. And there’s the small matter of him knocking Linares TFO with a body shot. Had the ref let Linares continue, Linares would have been badly hurt, cut up on both eyes and knocked out by the middle of the next round assuming he survived the remainder of the 10th. I didn’t see Linares protesting the stoppage while he sat on his stool for five minutes trying to recover from that liver shot Lomachenko put on him. It’s ****** to second guess a guy that knocked out a 4 time world champion who outweighed him by 15 pounds, had a 3 inch reach advantage and speed and power in both hands. Loma had to figure Linares out on the fly, then dissect him — which is precisely what he did: getting inside Linares’ reach, freezing him in place by stepping on his feet and landing in combination.

Just because Linares didn’t knock Lomachenko out with that right hand doesn’t mean Linares can’t punch just as hard as Garcia. Lomachenko is in almost superhuman condition and has a rock solid chin. Can he be knocked out? Sure, anyone can be. But at 135 it would take an accumulation of punches that Lomachenko is not likely to sit still and absorb. He’s far too smart and quick for Garcia to sustain any kind of effective attack, and Garcia lacks his lateral movement and speed.Comment

Yeah, Calzaghe got dropped a lot with that pitty pat sht.I just made a post in another thread about his pitty pat jabs. A trainer once told me to never throw multiple pitty pat jabs thru a fight because someone will time it and bad things will happen. He got a little too confident, but he also got caught in the 9th round and imo he was hurt pretty bad but Linares either wasn't aware of it or was too tired to do anything about it. That combo shook him up, but he has a great poker face. I saw he was hurt because he wasn't throwing any punches back and pressing forward to hide it. Tyson talked about that in his book. He talked about catching Pinklon Thomas with some shots and he stood right there. Tyson said he knew the guy was hurt but he hid it well so he just kept pouring it on anyway.
I think Loma need to take a page of Sweet Pea D, bend more his knees and duck straight punches.
Pernell got dropped a lot early in his career, Roger may like I said, but Williams and Layne too, he became then a defensive wizzards versus beasts like Chavez, Tito and Oscar.Comment

I posted this in another thread,
To add to it, Linares' lead right hand is decent at best and no don't even try to convince me otherwise, I've followed Linares' career. He throws it like a fast ball at times without turning into it. This is why DeMarco kept coming. That's the best straight lead right hand Lomachenko has gone up against too, now in comparison to Garcia'sPeople got mad when I said Lomachenko was susceptible to the lead right hand, one even called me a dunce, assuming I didn't know this is the usual case against southpaws. It's far more apparent with Lomachenko because he likes to antagonize his opponents from mid range, squaring up, looking to run them into counters.
It's something that many needed to look at. A good example is Pernell Whitaker, the distinct difference is that Whitaker squared up more so when he started showboating and guys like McGirt/ Roger Mayweather who possessed very good lead right hands were able to drop him. Lomachenko looks like a far more presentable target for lead right hands which is why I shake my head at those who think he could have tangled with Morales or Marquez. That remains to be seen.
It's gonna be far more dangerous if or when he faces Mickey Garcia, that fight will allow me to rate Lomachenko better. At this point I can say Lomachenko is a very good fighter, I don't see great as of yet.

His footwork is fantastic and unique. His movement is also something he should work a bit more on. It gets repetitive when he keeps moving to the right and his opponents can pick up his rhythm in the latter rounds if he is not careful. One thing I commend him for is he is always looking for a fight. He went on the inside and threw combos instead of going in and out the whole fight even though that is a perfectly fine way of winning.
His head and body movements are good but need to be great.
Loma is short and active at the same time, he's exposed to short crisp counters, something mickey masters by the wayComment

that one move he does when he angles to the right and slides to the side of his opponent, someone could possibly have a left hook waiting for him one day. I don't know anyone who could do it, but it's dangerous to repeatedly do that throughout the fight. Linares caught on to it and was spinning with him at times so he didn't do it anymore in the fightHis movement is also something he should work a bit more on.
