Lomo won the fight, cong**** to him, but this narrative of him being invincible is gone. Linares touched him up, knocked him down, and was landing hard shots before the stoppage.
Lomo is a great fighter, but he is not a god, and if Linares stays on his feet, fights the full 12 rounds with counter right hands, and body shots, this fight would have been dead even, linares could easily have won the fight.
Lomo, for his part, was really starting to invest in this idea that he is perfect, you can see it when he show boats in the ring etc.
That's gone and it's never coming back, Linares lost the fight, but he erased the notion that this man is unbeatable, that more than anything is the story.
Lomo can be beat by a well schooled fighter with good timing, and power, esp at 135 and above, and we saw it tonight.
No way Arum signs for a rematch, and we all know why.

Fought at such a high level. I was pulling for Linares and thought it was a dead heat up until the final body shot. Nobody has been able to land like that on Loma.Originally posted by AdonisCreed View PostGood job for lomachenko to come back from that knock down and still becoming champion. Linares did way better than I thought he would and I don't have any idea why he just stood in the middle of the ring and let lomachenko tee off on him like that without even trying to move or hold.. or nothing haha Then he tapped out at the end.. Oh well I wonder if Manny will be next for Loma or will they move him back down to 130 which I think is where he needs to be.Originally posted by Tomasio View PostLike I mentioned before in another post, At the time of the KO I had Linares ahead in a close & competitive fight.Originally posted by Cemalex View PostLoma is a monster at 130. At higher division his dominance will be less but Linares was a match uo nightmare for him. He is bigger and he is very fast. Also he has warrior spirit. He put Loma in bad situations some times but he still gave a good effort and won the match. I dont think the others could that much against Loma. Mikey is not fast as Linaes. Loma would beat him easier unless he get a surprise knock out.

I watched the fight live and I thought it was very close until the KO. Much respect to both fighters. Going to the fight I had the feeling that Linares could pull off the upset because he is the bigger guy and is also a very highly skilled fighter.
I am sure some "boxing fans" will criticize Loma because he got hit a few times, etc. Ironically the same people that criticize Loma today forgot that 'TBE' Mayweather struggled against Castillo and Maidana in their first fight. Likewise Pacquiao had a few close calls during his career. My point is even special/ATG fighters have lost fights or had a few close ones. Anyway the bottom line is that was a dream for real boxing fans. True fans will appreciate this one. 2 highly skilled fighters in a toe to toe battle. you gotta give Linares his props though. He is a great fighter but Loma just proved why he was a special boxer. I mean champion in 3 weight classes in 12 fights is just unheard of...
I am sure Loma will chase a title at 140 eventually but he looked so small against Linares. IMO he should settle down at 135 for a little while, unify the division and defend his title a few times before he even thinks about moving up. He gotta let his body get comfortable with that weight class. But what an amazing fighter though!!
