I'm sure that'll be a huge money maker. lol. Although I mean I get it. I'm sure you are getting more money coming back your way when you are connected with your own promotion, but these things are largely going no f#cking where so idk why boxers act like its some huge thing. Starting a real promotion is a serious investment & not as easy as boxers seem to think it is.
As to the remarks towards Hearn I really don't see the point in this sorta sh^t. Just say no. Don't be an ass hole. Although that is the gimmick of the Charlo's so fair play to them I suppose.
Floyd had Mayweather Promotions LLC for a good few years, before he actually ran his first show as a promoter. All these moves are for are to help basically streamline the back-end for fights headline by stars under the PBC banner.
Floyd has a real promotional company, and Broner and Head****ers Boxing kinda have real companies, too.
Everything else is money motivated tbh, almost clearly because there aren't ties to any gyms/fighting families and towns.
Danny can do something out of Philadelphia, Mikey Garcia can build a company around the fighters coming through RGBA, the Charlo brothers can build something out of PLEX and Houston, Keith Thurman can build something for St Petersburg FL, and Gervonta Davis and/or Gary Russell can build something for Baltimore/Maryland.
Will take time, of course, but the paths are there.
I'm just saying like Dana White said. These boxer promotional companies are in name only promotional companies. And the only upside is some dummies think it means something & most importantly I believe it results in you keeping a higher % of your purse, but I'm not 100% certain about that even.
Well hopefully he'll still cross the street to go fight Jacobs cuz thats a fun fight that I hope we get to see.
Its a vanity play only. It has nothing to do with their purses, as those numbers are alreadly set by their management or promotional contracts.
It CAN ultimately generate more money to the fighter as a tax strategy, having the purses paid to the promotional company (instead of to the fighter as taxable income) and then having a good accountant who writes off most everything. But no it doesnt change the purses.....
Because Eddie puts on the most competitive cards in the biz...
I mean we can look at Hearns record this year of making decent fights?
Joshua Vs. Parker
Quigg Vs. Valdez
DeGale Vs. Truax
Jacobs Vs. Sulecki
Yafai Vs. McDonnell
Butler Vs. Rodriquez
Potential fights that probably will happen this year
Callum Johnson Vs. Beterbiev
Kell Brook Vs. Khan
Joshua Vs. Wilder
Lets compare that to the fights that say PBC have planned bet it wont touch anywhere near that level.
For only 5 months in I'd say that's pretty good.

Degale Truax had nothing to do with Hearn lol. Parker Joseph was a mandatory and it was super boring. Jacobs Sulecki was cherrypick gone wrong.

Yea the bolded was what I was thinking along the lines of although didn't word it very well. That seems the only real upside to me. The rest is a vanity play as you say & only feeds your ego if anything.
But for some reason it seems fans think its this huge thing or leads to something much better. I mean I suppose it can if you can get deeper into it as Golden Boy has which is probably the most successful fighter promotion in recent times if not ever. Largely it seems a limp **** move.

Off the top of my head, Golden Boy, Mayweather Promotions, Square Ring (Roy Jones), and K2 (Klitschko) are really the only "fighter owned" promotional companies I can think of that have actually signed other fighters, staged events as the lead promoter, and stayed in business for a period of years.
Just having an "in association with" logo on the poster for your own fights doesnt qualify you as a "promotional company" in my opinion........
