I fail to see how either one needs the other. g only needs Canelo if he wants to make the most money. g could realistically get the same praise and legacy from rematching Jacobs, or fighting Charlo or Andrade. He could fully unify and receive some credit for fighting BSJ. Or he could continue to prove that g is not concerned with unifying and finally admitting that was a lie, an excuse to get out of fighting dangerous opponents at 168.
He could prove that money isn't the main motivator either, but that all he cares about is ensuring his opponent does not have the skills to even compete with him.
So, he could fight BSJ to unify, fight Charlo, Andrade, or Charlo for respect and legacy, or fight Derevyanchenko and Murata proving once and for all that he literally had his testicles removed a long time ago.
And Canelo certainly does not need g. His fight with Chavez Jr. got almost the same number of buys as his fight with g did. I believe the Khan fight even got over 700,000. Canelo is the best Mexican boxer out there today. That automatically means any fight of his, will get at least 300,000 buys and when he fights opponents with names, he gets much more. Canelo has fought Mayweather, Trout (when Trout was undefeated #1 jmw), Lara and g. Jacobs and Charlo are both on the same level as g. Charlo is actually probably a little bit better than g. Andrade is close also. Any mw who can sell 700,000 ppv buys against a 140 lber. who is known for having a glass chin, does not need anyone.
The only way either would "need" the other is if g wants to make the most money. And I don't believe that making the most money is most important to g.Comment
