Have you ever heard about Netflix?
Dazn = Netflix for sports. We have it, its great. Its cheap. All kind of sports. 9.99 per month, cancel anytime. Watch whatever, whenever you want, live or from a library of past events. No PPV costs. Fights like GGG vs Canelo is part of the 9.99 per month, also UFC events etc.
What is there for DAZN to acquire in adding the US as the 6th country where folks can access their content?
Japanese baseball, secondary/tertiary Euro soccer, Matchroom Sport cards, and the US shows is hardly enough content to be worth anything, nevermind $20 a month.Comment

This deal has potential especially if he makes all the right moves, fights and signs the right fighters.
I have confidence that he knows what he is doing. Al Haymon had a good idea with PBC but had no idea how to build or hype fights. Which Hearn understands.Comment

I might be wrong in my thinking here but will these fights be shown on sky in the UK? has hearn signed this deal to simply increase his budget to put on big fights with better production which in turn will gain more sky sports customers over here
maybe he doesnt care if it flops long term he just wanted the investment which will tighten his grip on the UK sceneComment

The NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, NCAA basketball/football/baseball, most NCAA sports, most of the UK/EU soccer rights, and a host of other sports all have their rights tied to broadcasters (and their own content packages).

This isn't some tinpot Euro sports streaming platform; Perform is owned by Access Industries which is a massive investment group. It has stakes in Warner, Spotify and ****loads of chemical and energy companies.Comment

If thats not a good deal then your right stick to NBA and football ,....
While you're at it add up all the ppvs yearly ...
Hes basically giving you free fights compared to 40/50 dollar ppvs you would pay for on top of good fights we dont see that arent U.S .
3 U.S ppvs would be over 100 easily .....how is this hard to figure out ?
16 Matchroom Sport cards excluding Anthony Joshua, and 16 Matchroom USA cards excluding Daniel Jacobs doesn't leave me all that excited on value for money.Comment

First off you don't have to commit to the $240 a year, there is no contract. Which means you can pay $20 at a time, if there is a big fight on in a month then you are paying $20, if there are 2 or 3, bonus I guess. How many shows are HBO committed to per year? How many are Showtime? I can tell you the answer, not enough. Which is why fighters are on the shelf for so long.
The big picture you guys are missing is that Hearn is armed with the $125 million per year. For 32 shows (16 UK, 16 US), that is an average of $4 million per show, obviously a good portion of that will be for fighters, he can make some serious fights happen, those fights that we want to see but there is never enough reward for the fighters.
I'm really surprised at the 'Blockbuster' mentality with some of you guys, anyone worth their salt knows that streaming is the future and a big threat to networks, and the 'old ways'. Why do you think every top of the line tv now has built in wifi, smart features, netflix, amazon prime, etc.etc.?
You are letting your perception of a man affect your ability to see something pretty exciting, and then accusing people of doing the same. Its completely bizarre, but I guess ignorance is bliss.Comment

It's for 16 US shows is it not?
The 16 UK shows would be happening on Sky regardless of DAZN. They just get the rights. It potentially means alot more than $4m per US show.Comment

In terms of the details I think we have to wait and see, but my perception is that some shows will be dual broadcast with a network, say a UK show that a US fan wouldn't normally have access to (ie. a Sky show also shown on DAZN for rest of the world), or a US show that the UK fans wouldn't normally have access to, and then shows that wouldn't get made because there isn't the budget or just aren't enough available slots on HBO, SHO, ESPN or Sky.
I think it creates another option, but an option with a HUGE budget, and with a promoter who doesn't really play politics, and is prepared to work with everyone.Comment
