Comments Thread For: Can Sadam Ali Convert a Title Win into a Title Reign?

By Cliff Rold - Slowly, the 2008 US Olympic boxing team has turned into quite the productive little class as professionals. Despite only a single medal (bronze, Deontay Wilder) at those games, three team members currently hold major titles and two more are former title holders in line for more shots down the road. Of the five men to win major title belts, its fair to say New York's Sadam Ali was the longest shot...

What the heck. I am picking Jaime Munguia. He seems like a true 154 pounder. Looked him up when he was the choice for Golovkin, and he seems like a good fighter. Ali comes to fight, but I see no real power there. We over valued Cotto, and I am glad Ali got the win. He fought well. But he is not fighting at a natural division for him.

He definitely has the potential to make a decent run but he's weird in regards that when you watch him fight he sometimes makes things more difficult than it has to be. And he gives his opponents unnecessary opportunities. But 154 is loaded with talent I don't know if he can last a while without cherry picking.

Ali wont hold that belt too long unless GB feeds him cans. He should look to fight Amir Khan or something. That would be a somewhat big fight that he could make money in and least have a halfway decent chance in winning.

If Jessie Vargas knocked Ali out, why not Munguia?

No way at all. He’ll get whopped if he fights a top 10 in weight class boxer.
