Trout's only losses were to Canelo, Lara, Jermall Charlo, and Hurd. Quite possibly the four best jmw's of the past decade. He is a seasoned vet, a risky fight for anyone. Trout is without a doubt the toughest opponent of Jermell's career.
Jermell seems to be the lesser half of the Charlo twins. His twin already beat Trout and J-Rock, and just had an impressive ko at 160 (albeit to an opponent who was there to make him look good). Time to see how good Jermell really is. With all that being said, I still expect Jermell to win, but it is definitely no sure-fire victory. Trout is a live body, he is not just another opponent designed to make someone look good.Comment

I like em both.. this is bitter sweet for me!!! But at the end.. I hope both men can go home to their families afterwards. If trout went to 147 he would be deadly and highly avoided.Comment

when the word gatekeeper keeps cropping up you know they've once very good fighter has taken a step or two back and that is what has happened to Trout... a very good stylist when he was at his best but if you could have just had a punch it would have made things easier for him...Comment

Nothing wrong with a gatekeeper who isn't exactly being concussed with his head bouncing off of the canvas every loss. He's making money and seems to still have his wits about him. But I think that if he suffers any sort of horribly non-competitive/blowout/knock out defeat, he should start planning his exit from Boxing so that doesn't become his norm.
Trout is a good guy, seems like him and his wife had that "power couple" thing going on, nice looking family and with kids. He seems blessed, was a champ, got some big fights vs name guys, a defining win and upset vs Cotto, etc. In other words, not everyone is an Ali, Leonard, Duran...not everyone is a May or Pac..not everyone is a DLH, Trinidad, Mosley...not everyone is a Cotto, Hamed...however if those are considered like top 4 "tiers/levels-to-this" in Boxing history...Trout can proudly look back on his career as one of those in the 5th tier as a former champion with a big win that happened to be an upset...he can show his kids that big win and moment...if he makes an appearance and they need a video of some highlights, he can show the highlights of him beating a future HOFer in Cotto, raising that belt high, etc...
I think he's fighting right now for love of the sport and this is what he does. Giving himself a chance at another big moment to add "multi-time" champion to his leger isn't a bad thing. As long as he isn't taking a huge amount of punishment in non-competitive fights, he'll probably be encouraged to fight on. The Hurd loss was rough, so he might be on that path, but I don't think he should be discouraged from trying.Last edited by TyrantT316; 05-10-2018, 10:12 AM.Comment

The fact Trout admits he's been sleeping says everything about him & his chances vs Charlo.
