It was boxing politics. Rodriguez was looking to go in another direction than Burnett so he didn't need to satisfy his mandatory for the IBF. So Burnett signed up to fight his WBA mandatory only for Rodriguez to then claim he wanted to fight for the IBF title after all. With all the paper-work done for Burnett to fight Parejo, he wasn't able to defend the IBF as well so he let it go.

The tournament offers a very nice money incentive and most bantamweights dont make money close to that on their own, especially if the thai guy wins. They make peanuts over their compared to what the WBSS is offering.

Knew all the ****ing ******s would come out for this. IBF caused that regardless of which fighter you like. It's a solid fact. Can't remember what happened, but he didn't get the shot, so at the last minute wanted to fight Burnett for the IBF but he had already signed up to fight his WBA mandatory. The IBF wouldn't give Burnett an extension so he dropped the title.

If Burnett was worried about fighting the best out there, why would he then sign up to the tournament that includes Rodriguez? Doesn't make any sense does it?

Emmanuel "Manny" Rodriguez made it clear a long time ago he was going for the IBF, since the IBF ordered eliminators around mid 2017 but Omar Narvaez kept postponing and bailing on the eliminator at least TWICE! he even went as far as missing his flight headed for Puerto Rico for his eliminator, in reality he ducked out of the IBF when Tete was offered.

How many eliminators for the WBC did Manny fought?! CLOWN.
