If you look at the numbers Rafael posted for the live gate ($20 million; it actually would be closer to $30 million), TV rights ($10 million), and sponsorship ($5 million), it's clear to see that the money is going to be made easily here in the US.

    Remember,

The UK PPV for a Joshua fight would fall between 1.2 - 1.5 million buys (Or $32 million - $40 million; so $16 - $20 million to the purses)

And the US PPV would fall between 500k - 1.2million (or $40 million - $96 million; so $20 - 48 million to the purses)

The money is there. It's plain to see for anybody who follows the sport as confirmed by Rafael here. If you take the low end of all those numbers, it leaves you with a pot of $71 million for the fighters.
Apologies I'd just replied to AkeDawg before I saw this.

To me the estimate for the US PPV looks quite optimistic, at least at the high end of the range, given recent fights and the lack of prior exposure of either of these fighters?

I'm also unsure of how UK PPV figures would be impacted given the likely time of the fight. A lot of casual sales will be lost. Still I'd expect Haymon to have a better idea than anyone what the US market can sustain. So it looks like everyone will make a shed load of money if they can come to an agreement.

Just to provide context. The UK PPV market is very consistent when it comes to buying big fights. There's little reason to think that their biggest star wouldn't maintain his numbers (I did account for a loss of a few hundred thousand buys, which is why I put the low range at 1.2 million buys)

Also, the US PPV numbers were so wide because it's hard to narrow down demand. I'm certain it clears 500k but above that, it's anybodies guess. I'd put the over/under at 800k, but clearing 1 milliin wouldn't surprise me at all. Just depends on when it's finalized and the press/media tour.

I wanna see Joshua vs Wilder as undefeated champions fighting not one guy or both with an L cuz lets not get too fanboy-ish & try to deny either guy is THAT unbeatable.
Thank You!!! Exactly both guys are flawed champions. I've said that for a while now.

I would let those paid to analyze these things determine that.

"Let's build this fight to its true potential. I want the fight in the UK and they want it in America."

Media ask AJ "Fighter Deontay Wilder next?"

So why would a guy like Dan Rafael (generally a PBC hater) think it could do "high six figures." I think it's fairly obvious.
