When would this have happened? People always seem to get lost in time with this Floyd/Shane stuff. Floyd didn't even win a 130lb title til Oct. 1998. He doesn't move up to 135 til 2002. Meanwhile SSM left 135 in Apr. 1999. Floyd & Shane were never in the same division at the same time til 2006 (Shane age 35, Floyd age 29) & between Shane losing to Cotto, his tooth issue + Floyd general inactivity til that time it stretched out their meeting til 2010.
/Shane vs Floyd rant lolComment

-Meldrick Taylor gets to see the final bell in the first Chavez fight.
-Roy Jones doesn't go back to 175lbs after beating John Ruiz for the WBA heavyweight championship.
-Manny Pacquiao accepts Floyd's offer in 2012, and they have the fight that May.Comment

Floyd couldn't get away with being the racist punk that he is if he was white
The public flogging for battering women and acting like a classless thug with money would have been much harsher, because then he wouldn't be able to pull the race card
The "King Thug" persona ain't as celebrated among white culture as it is among black culture, so his popularity would be affected.
In short, Floyd would be much less of a star if he was white. He'd probably get some Tyson Fury like treatment from media at some pointLast edited by lopetego; 05-06-2018, 11:05 PM.Comment

White people were getting away with more questionable terms & things up til recently. So yea maybe Floyd would need to tone it down in the 2010's & beyond, but Floyd's boxing career spans mostly the decade & a half previous to that.
That stuff gets covered up better if you are white. Or it was. You aren't wrong times are changing, but Floyd existed for a couple decades in the media before where we are now & Floyd was decade in the game before he became famous. The public flogging for battering women
If Floyd was white he'd been famous out of the gate more or less. Dude won a title vs the #1 guy in his division at the time less than 2 years into his pro career. Name me the last 5 or so guys to do that or better? I'll wait. Lotsa guys lifted titles off of the 3rd best title holder or won some vacant title, but not a lot of cats are beating the #1 guy that early in their pro career.
Generally white sh^t talkers get more attention quicker. Look at Conor McGregor. It took Floyd a decade to get famous in pro boxing after another decade as an amateur. It took McGregor about a decade combined from his start in MMA to becoming a star with his sh^t talking. The "King Thug" persona ain't as celebrated among white culture as it is among black culture, so his popularity would be affected.
Thats nuts. Fans would love a incredible white boxer who won with the consistency Floyd won at.In short, Floyd would be much less of a star if he was white. He'd probably get some Tyson Fury like treatment from media at some pointComment

RJJ vs Tarver 2 would never have happened.
The ref gets the count right in Tyson vs Douglas.
Vitali's eye holds up or the ref doesn't stop the Lewis fight.
Chris Byrd knocks out Vlad after making Vitali quit.
Gatti never loses to Ward.Comment
