Well dumb ass, that's what weight classes are for.

What makes GGG such a treat to watch is his power! You can tell how hard he hits, just by watching his opponents' faces! I thought Max Kellerman said something interesting (yet dumb at the same time) when he said that "GGG should fight all his fights with the same recklessness that he fought Vanes." When he fights that way, it is exciting, but to ask to him to fight that way, even when he fights top tier fighters, is ridiculous! Isn't the goal to win? Isn't winning enough anymore?
If you just try to walk your way in, instead of box, against guys who are boxing/moving/and can punch, you are going to get lit up a lot and lose rounds, and probably the fight. Especially if those guys can take a punch once you finally get to them.Comment

And it's hard to go to war with GGG as well, because his jab is so good. It's so strong and consistent, it puts the opponent on the back foot and vulnerable, so unless you want to be a sitting duck for him you better start moving. That or you have to match his jab and back him up, and I can't think of anyone at middleweight who really has a good jab, maybe Charlo at times but it isn't as consistent.Comment

To pull off what Jacobs/Canelo did against GGG you have to be able to 1) box well 2) move well and 3) have power. If you have all 3 of those things, and decide to box and move and very rarely engage with GGG, you can possibly go 12 rounds with him.
You will lose 19 of 22 rounds (2 ties) on the punch stats, but fighting that way is probably the smart way to fight him. They didn't try to engage with him at all. And those are two guys who have rarely if ever taken steps backwards, and have very high KO%.
And to your earlier posts, Danny was definitely hurt a few times in that fight. Besides the knockdown, he got hurt at the end of rounds 7 8 and 9. And a couple other times as well I believe.Comment

Vanes made it worse for himself when he hit Golovkin right in the face with full power. He wasn’t taking this fight seriously at all and the moment Vanes landed, he pretty much went into seek and destroy the next round. Props to Vanes for trying though. I do think he faked it though. The moment he got hit with that wild left hook, he pretty much checked out. “*** this, let me just stay down and collect this 250,000 dollar check”
dude, no way. the guy took a combination from the biggest puncher in teh world at 160 lbs flush and on his head. he wasn't faking ****. if he had gotten up reese almost surely would have stopped it. he could hardly keep his eyes open, my guess is that he couldn't have gotten to his feet in 10 seconds if he had tried.Comment

The chatter seems to be more about Canelo than this fight. Golovkin does have power. No one denies that and it makes sense for a fighter to avoid that brunt of that power by moving his head and body and his feet. GGG and Abel Sanchez, and the GGG groupies don't like the opposing fighters to try and avoid his power. They want Canelo and everyone else to stay still so that GGG is assured of a knockout. They think Mexicans are supposed to be ****** and let Golovkin hit them at will.
Canelo showed GGG too much respect. He had great success when he took it to Golovkin, there is a reason GGG did not keep Canelo on the ropes. He was getting hammered with counters. It pains me to think that Canelo and GB will give these miscreants another payday, but if they do fight, I don't want to hear GGG and Sanchez say GGG is the "real" Mexican. That is disrespectful to the sport and to the Mexican people.
But yeah it was a smart gameplan from Canelo/Jacobs. Box/move and try and keep the distance. Don't stand in front of him for too long, that's how he will break you down (watch end of rounds 7 8 9 with Jacobs for evidence of that). And with the power of Canelo/Jacobs, GGG had to be cautious of jumping in too quickly even when he had them cut off.Comment
