    • I can remember when I very first seen David Haye in the Manchester commonwealth games back in 2002! And I can also remember way back watching some of his first professional fights on BBC Grandstand! The man has been a complete enigma, and a self made champion! Always admired the way he went about his business outside of the ring, and I enjoyed his personality! Boxing is a really ruthless game! In the latter part of David Haye career, I think he proved that deep down he was a fighter! Forget all the pretty boy stereotypes! At his core there is nothing pretty about David Haye, in his first loss to Tony Bellew! (I actually think he won more credit in that loss, than if he would of won! That may have been the perfect time to retired!)...

I actually have a feeling that David Haye won't retire, and he will also returned to Adam Booth. David Haye and Adam Booth where more than a team, they where a entity! When you faced David Haye back in the day, you was not just facing David Haye! You was facing the physical attributes of David Haye, and the mind & consciousness of Adam Booth! A fighter like David Haye has unparalleled will power and stubbornness to most active heavyweight boxers now in my opinion! His ability to overcome injuries or step into the ring with fighters out weighing him by 3-7 stone proves that! David Haye has always needed a trainer who was as strong as him! Or even stronger! When it comes to ego strength, stubbornness and will power! Adam Booth was the only man who warranted his respect! I believe that he parted ways with Adam Booth, because he wanted to do his own thing! And since he left Adam Booth he technically regressed massively! Mentally he seemed to lose his famous confidence aswell! (Because David Haye for some reason after he left Shane Mcguigan, questioned himself! Never-mind getting old, something was damage within his personality! You could see this in the way he was trying to search for himself! Obsessing over his weight! Me personally I actually like him being heavier during his comeback!)...

Shane Mcguigan was all wrong for him! And Ismael Salas was very wrong for him! The Hayemaker was not about salsa dancing, The Hayemaker was about about violence........

Adam Booth is terrifying man, his obsessiveness with boxing is borderline psychotic! So when you can train under such a man, and withstand the psychological intensity? It creates a different type of fighter! It created the Hayemaker ladies and gentleman! So if David Haye decides to carry on his career, maybe just to finish on a win! His only chance, ONLY CHANCE of any form of retribution/redemption! Will be to return to Adam Booth.....

Bellew is not a HW, don't let his victory over a shot Haye, who was himself a small HW who in his prime survived in a weak division on speed and that fearsome power shot, which alas seems to have been surgery'd out of him.

Someone on the circuit told me that Haye hasn't been able to complete a pro level training session for 4 years (or more) without requiring ice, physio, bandages and meds. Basically every session his body has told him to give it up. Coldwell knew this and trained Bellew for this HW contest, not to be a HW career boxer.

Bellew at HW, is gonna get hurt.
So sportBuddha, it really bugged me and stuck in my craw that I did not clarify something in my post back to you... I do not want to sound like i thought Hayes condition was any better than your understanding of it...that was not a point of contention frankly. My point was that we cannot control what others do in so far as preparing for a fight. We can make sure we are at our best.

Second Bellew is no different than many cruiser and light heavies. You go up selectively and fight as a heavyweight because heavyweight is an open division. this going up is just what is done in these divisions.

Just wanted to clarify those points.

Sure, understood, thanks. I was just saying, I'm not convinced Bellew has much of a future at HW amongst the other key players mentioned. I'm not saying he cannot, of course he can do whatever he likes, but I would be very surprised if he beat someone top 10 in HW because I don't think he has the attributes.

I say this because I think the wins over Haye might give the impression he could blow away others at HW the way he did Haye. My point was Haye isn't a great weather gauge for the division because of some widely known and back room gossip about his physical state and...if rumours are true, his mental state is also getting some debate right now.

          • David Haye apparently made over £4 million for the first fight, and over £3 million for the second. Can't really blame him for selling himself like that for close to £7.5 million.
