A little too much backpedalling in the 2nd half of the fight, and his holding/clinching technique is pretty blatant at this point, but the telling factor is the limits of his power and the durability of opponents as he moves up, as OP mentioned.
I think the big lesson he learned is that it's a performance as much as a competition, he's gonna have to master the crowd (and the judges) as a strategy too. Do something significant (or just even flashy) to get the crowd back into it when he's ahead on points and they're getting restless.
He outclassed Velez easily in a not so pretty win, but an ugly win ...is a win.
He is good but not half as good as he says he is. He would get killed by Davis or Loma. He is only 19 so he could improve but he isn't ready for guys like that. He promised a 4th round KO and couldn't come close to delivering so he got booed. He overdoes the bragging and not all fans like that.
I understand people being pissed that he didnt score the knock out but he won every round besides the first.
If this guy can get some good training hes gonna be a world beater.
I think he has a bit of a chance against Davis, but he might be too young and inexperienced for that one.
Lomachenko is way ahead of him it'd be ****** for him to fight him, good for Lomachenko considering Ryan Garcia could easily become the next big face of boxing for Mexico he has all the things to do it.
No were near ready for Tank and if hes not ready for Tank then no point event mentioning Lomas name.
Like Lomas strapper said ok for 2 rounds then ran and grabbing in the 3.
Not up to Lomas standard thats why he got taken of out of the 3rd
the kids beaten noone and by all accounts he looked like dog**** last night. until he beats someone with a pulse i dont give a **** about him. 'he young doe' so what, so are a lot of fighters, doesnt mean they improve how you expect them to.
Looked like dog shyt? He won every round, busted his guy up, wobbled him at least a half dozen times, doubled his opponent up in punches, velez took more punishment then any fight in his career. Winning by wipe out in a step up against your best opponent to date is now a bad thing? He is 19 and Velez has never been stopped by anyone and only losses to top fighters and nobody beat the shyt out him like Ryan just did. We got a lot of idiots up in here. He LMAO
Lester do you remember our brief discussion on Garcia? I’m not a GGG fan but I told you my concerns about Garcia. In any case he still won so there is nothing to really bash at this time. A win is a win in my eyes but you will see the minute he steps his competition up. In all of my days watching boxing I have never seen a kid spar and look so afraid to engage , unless he was working on defence. All will be revealed soon. I don’t rate him ,now after his last performance a few more fans don’t either . However they are not privileged to see the sparring sessions I have witnessed( only joking some of them are on youtube 😂😂 I have nothing against him other than his mouth. It was the same with Broner. I loved him but the mouth has to back up the performances in the ring and it doesn’t so I don’t **** with him now. Show me the goods in the ring and I’m a fan instantly. Instagram followers will not do it for me
Looks like everything was revealed last night. Outside of speed and power, he doesnt have much.
