...that's not saying Leonard had no skill; don't misread the symbolism.

It's saying the more famous, more popular guy got the judges nod over the guy who took the long way to the top.

That sucks if you're the blue collar guy.

        Gracias amigo.

In retrospect, given the wide variety of opinions on this very board as to who won or even if the fight was close enough to be a draw, it's still not fair to judge Winky on his reaction to this particular fight which meant so much to him. This fight was his validation. Mosely could be chalked up to size and strength deferential. Tito could be chalked up in retrospect as no big deal because he'd already been exposed as a relatively one-dimensional figher. But Taylor....Taylor is the young stud, the future of the division; and possibly Winky's last chance to show all those years of fighting in obscurity were worth it...just to shed the light of his brilliance on the main stream boxing crowd. And, from his perspective...and mine....they took it away from him.

Ask any fighter how hard it is to swallow a bad decision, especially one with so much riding on it. This for the..that's THE World Middleweight Championship...and it was Winky's coming out party, so to speak. This fight...this decision, after all that work and all those years...hurt him.

After many years of being a first class act, I can excuse him of having one night where he decides to feel the pain and not hide the hurt. He had a right to be pissed....it sucks coming in second...especially to a younger kid, with fewer skills, and more exposure.

On a lesser scale, this was Hagler-Leonard all over again.

          Guess who was Marvin.
But you thought Winky won it by a wide decision, your in the minority, very few people thought that Winky or Taylor won it by a wide decision. I would agree with this post, if I thought Winky won the fight, I thought he lost by a close decision. Hagler is my favorite fighter of all time, I didn't think he won the fight against Leonard. Also Hagler was the champion and Winky wasn't one. I guess Taylor should've bitched about it, because he's the champion.

He's not a crybaby but that was sort of unprofessional from him.

Yeah probably not a cry baby only a *****.

He is simply taking advantage of the attention that he is getting at the moment that's why he is bitching.

Oh...incidentally, just because I'm in the "minority" doesn't mean I'm not right.

every fighter gets mad after a close fight, i think its alright to question, but its another thing if he keeps going on and on. we will have to wait and see.

Had Marvin been awarded the draw im sure he would have been OK with it.
Its that he had his championship literally robbed from him.
And Marvin was the long reigning champ, and Leonard was not.
                      Not the best comparison.
