Al Haymon guys are just wasting away. 3 fights a year should be a minimum. Even guys that make substantially less than $1M a fight are fighting once or twice a year. What happened to Sammy Vasquez? Figueroa?

It's not just Haymon guys though. The majority of top fighters nowadays fight twice a year. I agree, 3 fights a year minimum.

It's every fighter from every promotion not just Haymon fighters. I know people only like mentioning Haymon fighters though.

That's the VERY FIRST thing I thought when I heard this. Haymon gives these guys too much leeway.

Fighters fight when they wanna fight. Boxing isn't how it used to be in the old day where fighters fought more often because that's the only way they made money. Nowadays fighters get paid well enough not to fight as often and a lot of these fighters used their money to start up businesses outside of boxing. Fighters aren't just fighters anymore, they're also business men. Keep in mind that boxing isn't like any other sport where the athletes get 3 to for months to themselves after the season ends.

I'm picking Garcia to win this one and if Garcia wins he might be smart this time and fight Pac and then maybe Spence in summer/fall of next year. That's what I would do from a money stand point. However we'll see how things play out.

The inactivity of these guys also drives me crazy. But I mean they can’t fight 3 times a year and we as fans expect a elite opponent every time. There’s gonna be a lot of Rios and Granados in between. Guess we can’t have it both ways.

shawn - you seem like a great guy
strong young athletic kid who has been in sports your whole life
kudos to you for all you have achieved
you have done it well and always kept it classy
but you take just way too much punishment
sure the fights you have had where you just mob guys have not been against elite competition where boxers can make adjustments and counter you
and even then the guys who should have taken you apart like thurman havent because face it in the wake of floyd retiring - you guys at 147 just arent that good yet - or maybe never (and probably not - to floyds level)

errol spence and probably terrence crawford will pick you apart fight by fight even danny garcia will take a piece out of you

all of this will combine to effect you longterm

you should simply get out in a year - i would get out now - its not worth it - or hire floyd mayweather sr and learn a new style and not take all the punishment you do.
