First fight was enough. He has money. He’s undefeated. He’s been avoided and aged out by the best. Now that he’s 38, everyone comes a knocking. Said it a hundred times, I’m not a Golovkin fan or a Canelo fan, but an objective opinion is that he won the first fight by 2 or 3 rounds. He has nothing to prove at this point. Especially if Canelo in his prime was dirty—which we will never truly know. The VADA doctors told Eddie Hearn drug cheats will cycle off at 8 weeks which is when Canelo’s dirty tests (plural) happened, and that you need to test at 16 weeks otherwise it’s pointless. Regardless, I don’t think people are clamoring for the rematch like they were the first one. Boxing moves on. Time moves on.
