he never won an alphabet title, but ricky hatton was lineal at 140 and so was marco antonio barrera at 126.

barrera was champion because he and morales boxed at 1 and 2 under a vacant lineage, and hatton was the guy who beat the guy, beating kostya tszyu in '05.

they did not have alphabet titles at the time, but they were lineal champions when pacquiao had beaten them. hatton had lost to mayweather, but at 147 lbs. barrera was one of the better ranked pound for pound fighters in the world at the time and was in a renaissance in his career. pacquiao destroyed him and became the best 126 lber in the world

Ask yourself if he won a major title at all 8 divisions, or if it was just smoke and mirrors to promote him.

Still it's a great feat, and I tip my hat to him. Such a great fighter, and only the 2nd or 3rd greatest of our generation. Shows how great the others ahead of him were, no?

It depends on what you define as a champion. But if that helps you sleep well at night, go for it, bro! Either way, he is one of the greats of our generation....but clearly not the greatest of our generation. Good luck in your campaign to cope with that.

Pac was a great fighter no doubt! I just don't know why guys can't leave it at that. He is a legit 6 division champ. The others weren't major titles and he had the benefit of beginning at 16, but he still accomplished it. We can nitpick the catch weights and cherry picking for titles, but there is no doubt that he was great.

But he simply wasn't the best of this generation. I wish his fans can just let it go already and just celebrate him for what he was.

It's the same for people claiming Mayweather was TBE. The best ever? Nope. But definitely the greatest of this generation.
