    Dear Jim Lampley...

...when a boxer hits someone's glove, that is not a punch.

When the boxer hits someone's face or body, that is a punch.

Technically, a punch, whether it misses or hits, is a punch. ie "He punched but missed."

However, when you are commentating on a match, please don't confuse the viewers by saying "AND TAYLOR PUNCHES WINKY AGAIN!" when it was clearly blocked. We can see he threw a punch. Thank you. But you make it sound like it hit when most of it, like in the Winky/Jermain fight, were actually blocked.

    Thank you.

They need to learn how to watch boxing. Winky danced around for the last 20 or 30 seconds of the 12th round, and they made it sound like he ran DLH style and that cost him the fight. **** off. He's the only one who landed any punches in that round.

Can't wait to see the fight on tape. It wouldn't surprise me if there was some bias for "the future" of boxing. I was at the Forum and, to me, there's no way Jermain won or even deserved a draw...it wasn't close to me.

Sometimes, if you watch a fight on TV, you can be subconsciously effected by the announcers and you see what they say.

Some of you who feel the draw was a fair call, need to watch the fight again with the volume down...and really look at what lands and what doesn't. Remember, for a punch to score, it must hit body or head...blocked shots should actually help the guy doing the blocking for his defensive expertise.

Watch and see...you will amaze yourelves.

I lost a huge amount of respect for Lampley and the entire HBO boxing staff after this fight. When Taylor would land a shot against Wright's gloves or shoulder Lampley would almost hop out of his ****ing deat yelling "AND ANOTHER SHOT FOR TAYLOR!!!" or "AND TAYLOR CONNECTS AGAIN!". It was a ****ing disgrace, anybody with halfway decent vision could see he wasn't connecting.

For christ's sake my girlfriend actually watched a couple rounds with me and even she goes "he's blocking those punches".

HBO is so biased and slanted towards Taylor at times it's ****ing pathetic.

Why everytime a fight is close people ask to watch it with the volume down. I did before and it was the same to me. Either guy did enough to win. I had Winky up by one round but, he didn't do enough to take the belts from Taylor.

Well, the problem is you remember the commentary and the emotion of the time. The hard thing to do is watch a big fight initially with the volume down...and score....then compare.

That way, all you have are your own judgements without any possible subconcious bias. Believe me, anyone can be swayed and not know it.

So you really beleive Winky clearly deserved to win the belts from Taylor after based on Saturday's close matchup?

Yeah "HUGE RIGHT HAND FROM TAYLOR" every two seconds, when the punches were landing directly on the gaurd.
